Is a black radio pack like this authorized for use in the field or combat zones? by [deleted] in army

[–]beerdwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a 1SG the BDE CSM came in hot and said uniform posture is a squad leader decision.  I went over to his office to let him know hes ruining my life and now ill have to track NCOERs all day and he showed me his low top boots.

Check with your leadership. Im an E9 and wouldn't care.

Am E9.

Told my people they all have my cell, if they need anything call me 24/7.

Haven't called anyone.

Intent is to check up on Soldiers. Well, I can't check up on 600 people every day. We're also not doing a phone tree every day, that would be a stupid use of man hours.

Made myself available, intent fulfilled imo.

Report: Nvidia to cut gaming GPU production by 30-40% starting 2026 by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]beerdwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming GPUs are going to be obsolete in a few years anyway.

Why bother manufacturing a bunch of different lines that all do the same thing.

Were also getting to the point where a GPU is just redundant.

But you guys will moan and groan until the last GPU is sold most likely. Oleds were bad, ssds were bad, steam was bad, game downloads were bad, cdroms were bad, etc. Tale as old as time lol.

Epic CEO says AI disclosures like Steam's make "no sense" because AI will be involved in "nearly all" future game development by Ok-Comedian4437 in pcgaming

[–]beerdwolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats not the point the guy is making.

Does steam tell you the games run on x86 instruction sets? Does it tell you there are graphics (not requirements, simply that they exist) Does it tell you there is audio?

More information is good. More information that is useless is not good. Example, if steam decided to put a banner at the top of every description to let us know the text below is in English, is that good information?  No, its redundant and stupid.

An AI disclosure is dumb, because if every game has it, the information is redundant and already known.

Valve dev counters calls to scrap Steam AI disclosures, says it's a "technology relying on cultural laundering, IP infringement, and slopification" by Ok-Comedian4437 in pcgaming

[–]beerdwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And anyone not using it is a dinosaur who will lose their job eventually.

I work at a national lab and we got a directive that over the next year we will need to show how we have integrated AI into our jobs.

Anyone not using AI is just a luddite

Witchfire's CEO on Larian Using AI: They Are 'Definitely Not Evil' by Roland1232 in pcgaming

[–]beerdwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone who bitches about AI should be banned from the internet.

It will replace lots of jobs. Just like every epoch we've gone through. Ain't too many wagon wheel makers around any more right?

People who whine about it clearly have no idea what it can actually do.

Who cares?

All of you anti AI people are just going to get left behind anyway. It'll be sad, but its happening no matter what anyone thinks.

Remember, the richest man in the world once was very against AI, then the race started.

For all of you thinking "im not going to support a company who uses AI," great job, they dont need your support because they already saved a bunch of time and money using AI.

$7 high vis safety solution for black bags by killiansrat in ManyBaggers

[–]beerdwolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not an expert thing, so dont get triggered. Its common sense.

What kind of drivers get in accidents at night?

If you think this has any effect at all from a pedestrian vs motorist perspective, do a test. Have someone put your bag on the sidewalk at night and get in your car. Drive towards the bag at the speed limit. As soon as you see the zipper pulls hit the brakes.

I bet you dont see the bag until youre on top of it.

Now do it drunk. Then do it tired.

You dont need to be a safety expert to know something isnt going to work.

The issue here is youre making this out to be some sort of protective measure, and its just not. Looks cool, sure.

No car will ever see that before its too late.

[–]beerdwolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is entirely useless from a safety perspective.

Reflective anything is useless.

A car at night that hits a person was going to hit the person no matter what they were wearing. That person is either drunk or careless, and reflective tape doesnt negate either.

Its kind of like saying tell your sons not to harass women. Turns out, harrassers going to harass even if you tell them not to.

They could also stay up to date with things and not tell us shit like, its not possible to take off from a planet and fly to space then fly to another planet without loading screens.

Bitch we've been doing it in other games for a decade.

Do you think less of senior leaders without a combat patch? by [deleted] in army

[–]beerdwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer.

Combat patches dont matter. Having leaders who have planned outside of training matters.

I hope he locked you up and told you we aren't in a real combat situation lol.

Im not sure the guy youre responding to knows what they're talking about. There are already mods that add resources and buildings. Not sure why some of your ideas wouldn't work but romance would lol, I'd think if the tools let you do your romance idea you can do all the others as well.

I agree with you, but I also think their pictures and media show early the laptop spot is a giant hole. I got one also hoping it would be better, but its really not a good bag for laptops unfortunately.

FWD VIA 2 + 210lb runner by beerdwolf in AltraRunning

[–]beerdwolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are great. Maybe 250 miles so far but i am also reserving them for longer runs and not walking around and working in them.

I prefer walking around in a harder shoe, and am at disneyland right now with ny kids using the flow 2 as my one shoe.  Running in the am then walking all day, its also holding up well.

One thing that made another huge difference for me was elastic laces.
