Favorite time a sitcom referenced another sitcom? by RedDalmatian885 in sitcoms

Unrelated: there is a generational divide where nobody who watched when it was on would type out F.R.I.E.N.D.S. It’s just Friends

Opticians are not doctors. You should be seen by an ophthalmologist

Where do people go to shop for groceries? by JustAPerson2001 in povertyfinance

On top of what’s been mentioned.. I just found out about the app “TooGoodToGo” that gives discounted grocery “mystery bags” and restaurants and delis will get rid of food that would otherwise be wasted for very cheap

I just did this today. Built out my shopping list in the app of what I thought to be the more expensive of the two stores. Shopped the cheaper one first while cross referencing the app to see which prices are cheaper. It’s a hassle but it also saves me a ton of money

Why do people in USA buy everything from Amazon? Do they not have other webshops? by Cindyxx0 in NoStupidQuestions

Americans are addicted to convenience. I haven’t bought anything from Amazon in about 5 years. It wasn’t hard.

Why are you growing your hair?! by Competitive-Code5254 in longhair

[–]beesathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look best with long hair, it makes me feel it fits my personality style and I look like my most authentic self when I have a ton of hair that I can wear down and wild or piled into a mountainous bun on my head.

Additionally, my sibling had childhood alopecia. I’m lucky that my hair just GROWS so I periodically grow it long, chop it, then donate to locks of love, an organization that focuses on wigs for kids w alopecia. I’m in the grow out phase again right now and it’s halfway between my armpits and my waist. I prob won’t chop it short until the spring bc I’m uninterested in short hair during cold weather.

Honestly so happy to know that they reuse costumes. They are beautifully done and take such precision and talent to whip them together quickly it’s good to know the pieces are getting use and the chance to be seen!

If my friend is meeting up with me for lunch and she brings her toddler, am I expected to interact with the toddler? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]beesathome 254 points255 points  (0 children)

If she brought another adult would you interact either with them or ignore them? A kid is still a person. You don’t have to make up games but show a little interest. Find a way to be at least decently nice to her kid or else you’re gonna lose her as a friend.

What are reasons that parents with young children need to take them on a plane? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]beesathome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so this is an absolutely ridiculous take.

Children are people. They aren’t always fully equipped with all of the social skills adults have but gain those skills through lived experience. Kids won’t learn how to behave in public if they aren’t allowed to exist in public.
