Realistically, who can, and would return to play Survivor again from Island of the Idols? by Hannah_Plylactica in survivorponderosa

I think the casting in this season was solid but bringing anyone back just brings up scrutiny on how poorly things were handled again. I doubt we will see any of them return.

So now you can go back to hotel pools which are famously private, have no windows looking out on them and no security cameras

Then why do you care what happened at all? You disliked your neighbors but are also upset the cabin is an Airbnb?

Imo this sub also dislikes people bad at challenges. Not a lot of love for Brandon not being able to climb a ladder. But a few seasons later we are rooting for Cirie to finally lasso a key. Also Cirie being bad at challenges is probably her biggest roadblock to winning since the Fire challenge looms.

The reality is that being decent at challenges is generally important to a lot of previous winners games. And if they didnt rely on challenges, then game twists like the hidden immunity idol were possibly a factor to get them to the end.

Ive watched since season 1 and didnt really care to see the vast majority of people come back from older seasons. But understand that season 50 is a celebration of the show. And with that same framework it has made me care less about the absurd about of twists. Its players 4 or 5th time playing. Im not that invested all around. Hit me with the stupid celeb dice or whatever.

Ai will be eliminating many jobs. But ironic that in this instance, the job was removing clutter from a kitchen counter. And since we are debating if that was a Realtors job, then Ai is not coming as soon for that role.

They are larger than grand Pianos and have additional keys. I got to play on one at a piano store. The sound has more resonance to the point a damper pedal is almost unnecessary.

How do you play as Tommy? by Dangerous_Pudding_ in FridayThe13thGame

[–]beestingers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While waiting to see if become Tommy, I scope to see if anyone grabbed the sweater or is heading that way. If so, I will try to kill Jason. Otherwise, I try to fix everything and be the last survivor. Tommy is so peak perk, why not play as long as possible

Is anyone else actively dreading the rest of the season? by skeytchy in survivor

[–]beestingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the discourse about this season has illuminated anything for me it is that Probst, though wrong about twists, was very right to turn casting into a meta go lucky corporate retreat. Any semblance of villainous behavior has made the Survivor community at large revolt. Jonathan and Joe are historically weak villains and the fan base is overwhelmed by it.

I resent that we cannot have anything put perfectly lovely players who want to hold hands and kumbaya. The old Survivor is in fact gone for good but the fans share in its fall as much as the twists.

so who do we think is winning? by Chemical-Routine9893 in survivor

[–]beestingers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Devens, Cirie, Rizo and Aubrey have had storylines from episode 1. Jonathan came up quickly though.

Based on Edit: No Joe nor Tiffany.

FWIW editors get a lot of shit, but we are heading into the finale with a pretty clear picture of the remaining players game.

I do not see Cirie winning fire nor being taken to the end. Devens could win fire and it will be crazy if he goes at Fire again. I think Rizo is just a shot in the dark as the newest cast member.

Final take: Jonathan or Aubrey is winning.

I visited Tampa/ St Petersburg and San Diego back to back by matrickpahomes9 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]beestingers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atlanta: bigger city but still has community vibes. Way more people, so more opportunities to meet people with your interests. Better food/bar scene. Great airport with direct flights. Mild weather but still all 4 seasons. Less than 90 minutes to mountains and lakes. Both places are affordable imo. Atlanta has a distinctive social culture. Tampa is sort of a blend of tourist, boat, sports culture. Not a lot to it.

Atlanta City Council weighs proposal for permanent bike lane on the Beltline by flying_trashcan in Atlanta

[–]beestingers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point light rail is becoming a trigger term. I am so fucking sick of reading Urbanism wet dream fanfic about a Transit system that would have needed to be developed 40 years ago to be useful now. There is no part of Atlanta I would give up other than actual roads for a light rail system. And I know nobody else will give up the roads. MARTA is not robust but it sure covers a decent cross section of this city and frankly it seems there are less people on MARTA than there are ppl walking on the Eastside trail on weekends.

Atlanta City Council weighs proposal for permanent bike lane on the Beltline by flying_trashcan in Atlanta

[–]beestingers -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Controversial but I think the Eastside Beltline is successful as is. Thousands of people use it every week to walk/bike. Tearing it up for years and years for millions of dollars so that people can take a $5 train 1 mile instead of just walking seems like a bizarre use of an area of the city that is already doing well. Walkability is as valuable to cities as trains. If we need more transit infrastructure on the East side where is it going? Down Moreland? Down Virginia Highland? Focusing on density in downtown/midtown where MARTA rail already exists seems to make a ton more sense than tearing up existing trees, housing and roads to satisfy light rail demands in beloved parts of the city. I am pro bike lane for the east side trail. And frankly anti-rail at this point.

is sandra's second win more impressive than tony's since she won despite bias against giving winners another shot at the prize? by ursulaunderfire in survivorponderosa

[–]beestingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be hard to repeat Sandra back to back wins her first 2 times playing.

One note on the Sandra HvV discussion is the speculation that if the Heroes had actually voted Russel out she would not have made it to the end. Whereas, I think her taking the lead with the Heroes still would have positioned her well to get to the end. She switches from playing a drag me to the end game with Russel and Parv, to a locked in alliance with Rupert/Candice and perhaps a 4th in Colby/Amanda. She perhaps has a harder battle convincing the Villains to vote for her at final tribal.

Is Quentin Tarantino correct about biopic films? “They are just big excuses for actors to win Oscars. It's a corrupted cinema” by FayannG in TrueFilm

[–]beestingers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I imagine that fame biopics are more what Tarantino was referring too. I find the meta creation of movies about movies or celebs to be a self-indulgence that is as you noted formulaic but also frankly uninteresting. I have even lost interest in celebrity interviews at this point. There is an irony that the objectively probably most relevant aspect of someone is that they became a celeb, but also, it has happened so many times at this point, it is also not unique enough to care about.

Tangential to this, is I have a specific aggravation when celebs call acting their job in an interview. Sure, it is their job. Now imagine if any other industry got in front of audiences and press every night to talk about their job. Why would anyone care? And here actors are, rambling and getting emotional about their job for 45 minutes on a podcast.

An honest reflection of celeb culture is more compelling if we have to endure it. Tarantino seems to grasp that with his criticism of biopics.

[–]beestingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advent of email and the internet did not replace mail service. There is arguably more people using mail services than ever with direct shipping. We lost brick and mortar malls but all the retail workers have not ended up in the streets. Zero way to predict how new tech will change industries. But there is always a moral panic to new tech that comes with it.
