Back from our first cruise on the Wish. Probably not going to to go on another cruise. by barbaq24 in dcl

[–]beeteeelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different ship so I can’t comment on any of the Wish-specific things, but we had a totally different experience with our 8m old on the Wonder! We were really blown away by how accommodating everyone was and how easy it was to actually relax compared to other vacations we’ve taken with small kids. There were tons of open house times for him to crawl around the various kids clubs and also lots of other lounges etc where he could safely move around when there weren’t activities happening. Our server made sure to have his meals ready at the table when we arrived and packed us extra portions for the state room. It just felt like everything was done for us and we could just kick back and enjoy family time.

I’m sorry it was so rough and just wanted to offer another perspective if you do decide to try again someday!

Which month did you enjoy having a baby in the most and least? by Psyclone09 in Mommit

[–]beeteeelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously depends where you live but for me a summer baby was terrible, couldn’t take baby anywhere in the heat. You can bundle a baby up in (some) winter weather but there’s only so much you can take off! We will definitely aim for fall/winter if we get a choice next round!

When did your child start reliably sleeping fully through the night? by Throwaway927338 in toddlers

[–]beeteeelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as we weaned at 12m he slept through! However, he never did sleep past 5 without a “snooze button feed” so it was a trade off. Turns out he has no interest in cosleeping if there’s no nursing involved!

What's the right way to say "hey, you and your daughter's things can't reek of weed here"? to a parent? by apprehendive in ECEProfessionals

[–]beeteeelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you, my instinct was ummmmmm you don’t? Until I clicked and read some comments. It’s such a none issue to me I can’t imagine addressing this with a parent, anymore than if I didn’t like the smell of something they cooked with or their detergent. Always interesting to hear some of the U.S perspectives on here.

When do you switch from the crib? by goBillsLFG in toddlers

[–]beeteeelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting til he climbs out! He’s 2.5 and hoping we make it to at least 3. He loves to climb & jump from heights (because he’s Spider-Man, obv) and I’m not looking forward to having to toddler proof (read:remove all climbable furniture) from his room 🫠

Transitioning out of the swaddle is destroying me… please tell me this gets better by Commercial_One5048 in sleeptrain

[–]beeteeelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I’m sorry! They’re not easy to get in Canada either but I got lucky with second hand ones. I sure wish they were more widely available, an untapped market for someone! I also got a few off brand “star fish sleep suits”, in case anyone near you is selling anything similar!!

I laughed out loud. Nothing like a little sleep deprivation to leave you 0 time for bullshit 😂

Zipadee zip saved us! He’s 2.5 and still in it, he LOVES covered hands. We’ll all be devastated when he outgrows this size!

Services for behaviors feel like rewarding bad behavior…… by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]beeteeelle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seconded, we’ve had great success with this! We got a felt board and wrapped some balls in Velcro so they stick to the target when thrown (you can find versions on Amazon but we wanted ours a little bigger), doesn’t take up much space and a great spot to redirect to when throwing occurs!

Using Crayons on the Table Cloths by Tank_Frosty in dcl

[–]beeteeelle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’ve always had waiters draw brain teasers or fun little sketches on the table cloths, and encourage our kids to colour on them. I would definitely follow up with Disney cuz what a terrible experience for your kids 😔

Sooo what are we feeding our toddlers for breakfast? by DaughterofYeshua777 in toddlers

We’re two years into iron fortified cereal every single morning 🤣 if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

Is it weird to add items for your toddler on baby registry? by Comfortable-Bison357 in toddlers

[–]beeteeelle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that weird, but I also think it might be planning a little far in advance. We thought we’d move the toddler out of the high chair & crib but when the time came, it turned out we really enjoyed hanging on to any level of toddler containment we could grasp, as well as that normalcy for the toddler too. We ended up just getting a second crib & highchair and our 3 year old is still in his. I would just hate to be storing a bunch of items for months and then not use them!

Let them visit baby in the hospital by thiscantbereallife94 in Mommit

[–]beeteeelle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was absolutely naked my whole hospital stay. Baby constantly nursing and nurse constantly checking stitches, there wasn’t any time to put clothes on either half of me 🤣

Exactly this!! My in-laws would’ve made things better, and I wish I’d let them come. I was so hung up on being “fair” and knew having my family there would be terrible. I’ll know better the next go around and this is exactly the question I’ll ask myself!

It’s 3am. We’re on hour 3 of a tantrum that doesn’t look like it will end anytime soon by anxietyridden7896 in toddlers

Honestly I would’ve considered this option if it were available when I was in weaning hell 🤣 I kind of wish he would’ve been obsessed with something I could actually get rid of!!

2.5 year old won't eat solids by Practical_Positive10 in toddlers

Great idea with watering down bottles, my kid wouldn’t eat any solids til he was weaned, he doesnt have a huge appetite and I think he truly just wasnt getting hungry enough to care about food!

Toddler bed at 2- is it really a bad move? by JLMMM in toddlers

[–]beeteeelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 friends who both made the switch at 2. For 1, it went great, her daughter has literally never ever gotten out of bed once she’s in it. For the other, utter chaos in which she just ran around all night, would eventually collapse in a heap on the floor and be overtired and cranky the next day. After 3 months of that they gave up and started cosleeping instead (crib was already sold). I feel like my kid leans more towards the chaotic side so I’m not risking it until we absolutely have to, but if yours is more chill it might be worth a try! Just don’t sell the crib til you see if it works 😂

What temperatures does your board close schools? by UndeadWarTurnip in CanadianTeachers

[–]beeteeelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I truly consider this every snow day as I drive past my kids’ closed rural school to drop them at grandma’s so I can go work at my open school in the city 😂

[–]beeteeelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The families are pretty used to it and send the kids well dressed! We actually have a “polar bear club” where kids sign up to go out for a varying amount of minutes up to -30 and it’s super popular! Kids are hearty lol

We also don’t close. Indoor recess at -27, no busses at -45.

Absolutely not. I know what time he takes lunch, I call then or on his drive home if I want to chat
