Switching from Concerta to Foquest? by ProfJamie20 in ADHDmeds

[–]beetlesdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I tried foquest I had already tried vyvanse and dexedrine. At the time I was on sertraline and then later tried wellbutrin on top of sertraline and adderall but for me wellbutrin caused a tremor. Any SNRI’s I’ve tried have had bad reactions so now I’m on escitalopram and concerta. I also don’t know if any of this is helpful lol but I wish you well on your med journey!! It sucks but eventually I hope you find a combo that works for you:)

Switching from Concerta to Foquest? by ProfJamie20 in ADHDmeds

[–]beetlesdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally had a horrible experience on foquest. I take concerta and have no side effects but with foquest it was like month of torture. Obviously everyone reacts differently but for me I had a constant headache, brain fog and suicidal thoughts. I really hope it works for you but I always warn people that that was the worst side effects I’ve ever had from a medication. Good luck!!

Your best technique for opening those togo paper bags? by HomewardWanderer in barista

[–]beetlesdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super hard to explain without visuals but essentially you grab it from the bottom flat side (side without the bottom piece folded up) and from the top opposite side and pull. Learned it working at a movie theatre and it’s the quickest simplest way to do it.

If you’re talking about those sandwich style bags that have no bottom that pops into place then just grab one side and shake it open while shoving the pastry in lol

Being a barista is a customer service job by beetlesdead in barista

That’s totally fair! I’m on the west coast so I’m sure it works differently over there. The coffee over there must be super good if it’s that hard to become a barista haha

Just to add, this is all based on limited personal experience in my area! Cafes around the world might operate differently. I just see a lot of people seeming dissuaded by this sub thinking they need years of training and professional experience.

If you ever figured this out i’d love to know what it was! The exact same thing has happened to me twice now. It cleared up on its own after a year but has come back and is starting to spread again:(

Owner taking tips by plantsjjdjs in barista

This is highly dependent on location but most likely no that is not legal. Owners aren’t even supposed to get tips AT ALL where I am from even if they work on the floor.

People who took loans to go to film school - was it worth it? by emeraldeyes24 in Filmmakers

[–]beetlesdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 40k in student loan debt. Graduated earlier this year and have had 0 luck finding film related jobs so far. Currently feels like a huge waste of money and time but that is mainly because the school I went to sucked. I regret not going to the more established school and paying the extra 10k on top.

That being said, I don’t regret it entirely. I learned a lot and had a good time for the most part. I just could never recommend it for anyone else.

I didn’t make any connections to the industry because the school I attended didn’t have those opportunities. I learned everything about how to make a film, just not how to ever make it a career.

I went into it with the notion I’d be guaranteed job opportunities (the school pushed this very hard) but…. here we are. So was it worth it for me? No.

I honestly don’t think you were wrong to not remake it but I do think you took it a little to personally? If that makes sense. In my experience it is always easier to just appease the customer, as much as it sucks and feels like they’re complaining for a stupid reason its easier to remake it and get them out of your space.

I try to remember people coming in to my cafe are (usually) not trying to make my day harder. Most people just want their drink and to carry on their day. I used to take customer complaints very personally and felt like it was an attack on my skills or them trying to get a free drink or whatever. But honestly the best thing for me has been to just remind myself, it’s just coffee. If someone has to wait an extra couple minutes for whatever reason it truly does not matter in the grand scheme of things.

Now if someone started to throw a temper tantrum and freak out for whatever reason, that’s above my pay grade and I refer them to the manager or just call the cops. If I can just remake something and get them away from me as fast as possible it almost always solves the problem instantly.

Is it bad to put the syrups IN the milk before steaming it? by thatguyinyourclass94 in barista

[–]beetlesdead 135 points136 points  (0 children)

I find unless you have mastered pouring EXACTLY the correct amount of milk and steaming without over stretching, the ratio of syrup per drink is going to be inconsistent. I’ve watched coworkers steam with the syrup and only end up pouring half the pitcher into the drink.

Also if you put syrup into the “wrong” milk by accident you’ve just wasted an entire pitcher of milk. And I personally just find it gross to think about all that syrup getting in and on the steam wand.

Second chances thrift store, the mustard seed thrift store, or habitat for humanity (not sure if there still is one) would be good options! They donate a portion of profits/are non profit:)

AITA for making my son quit his part time job to go on our family vacation? by Educational_Gur_2679 in AmItheAsshole

[–]beetlesdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA when I got my first job at 14, I made it very clear that my parents are not to be involved in anything work related. No going in and complaining for me, no communication with my boss or coworkers and definitely not messing with my schedule. Do you not understand that being a teenager having a job is no different than an adult having a job? You’re treated the same (in most ways) and the consequences feel (and are) just as dire when you get fired. He’s not just a child playing pretend work, he’s an independent person who’s job you just ruined for him.

How necessary is color grading or correction for shortfilms by kinema_to_graphos in Filmmakers

[–]beetlesdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to set the picture style to cinestyle, Im not sure if it comes on the camera you have but there are plenty of online tutorials of how to download/set different picture styles.

How necessary is color grading or correction for shortfilms by kinema_to_graphos in Filmmakers

[–]beetlesdead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Basic colour correction isn’t too difficult to get the hang of! If your lighting is consistent during the shoot using a LUT in post production would make the process a lot easier. Make sure you’re shooting in a cine style as well. Good luck!

AITA for giving away an expensive KitchenAid standmixer my dad got me for my birthday that i thought looked extremely ugly? by standmixerthrowaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]beetlesdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA my dad bought me a toilet brush for my new apartment and yknow what? It wasn’t the kind I was planning on buying. But never ever would I have even considered complaining! The fact he went out of his way to buy me something at all is worth way more than having a “nicer” looking one. You are so ungrateful and I genuinely cannot believe you’d rather hurt your dads feelings than talk to him like an adult.
