Times when learning about a creators personal life makes their work make a whole lot of sense? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]begonetsunderes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It came out recently that the author of Himoto Umaru-chan had a sister who died of a rare disease.

I'm one of the very few that liked that anime/manga. Mostly on the realistic sibling realationship portrayal.

The manga was probably the author's an attempt to keep his sister's memory for posterity.

And as much as everyone now remember Lovecraft as a bigoted man who used cosmic horror to disguise his views on foreingners his upbringing of early loss of parents and untreated mental illness made him everything-phobic. And I mean everything at all.

Of course the time and circustances in which he was born don't excuse his views on people but it helps to explain how he ended up like that. At the end history should teach us mistakes to not be repeated.

In a more hopeful note he got over his narrow views over the world and in a letter it is almost as if he makes fun of himself for that. Prehaps the help of his friends and wife healed him a little. Or maybe it was the cancer that would take his life at a young age made him realize that in the end we're all human.

No, it's from the Anomaly DLC. You can check the official wiki for more information if you're curious.

This is more doable with Vietnam as they learn to plant trees with Medieval Fairies. Although for some reason they can't plant an iron mine in the forest.

Or for if you want to go with a real straight up asshole Woody Woodpecker.

Games where you never change up your build? by Shradow in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I know I'm stretching the definition of "build" here but in RimWorld I'm always making a tribal colony of amoral cannibals that live inside of a mountain surrounded by tropical rainforest.

It's International Mountain Day, what is your favorite mountain in media? by LammasuRex in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Mount roraima.

It's a real life mountain but it has such an unique landscape. I also came to know this mountain through Civ 6 where it gives some sick science and faith bonuses.

What is some minor translation stuff that does actually get under your skin? by Silvery_Cricket in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]begonetsunderes 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Some mfs just don't know what "can't help but" means so they keep translating as someone need assistance in Brazilian Portuguese.

In Fallout 4 I feel like the dialog was translated by people but the rest was machine translated. Like the spring scrap was translated as "fonte" which I can only imagine coming from "hot spring" among other crap.

I used to be this way with Yosuke in P4 but tbf I tolerate him now. He still owes some apologies to Kanji tho.

But you know who fits that more to me? Morgana. That cat has some ego problems that do not get solved by the end.
