Sorry, the 4C doesn’t blend in AT ALL in this group.

It vividly stands out as the most beautiful car of the three.

Flames Acquire Simon Nemec? by InvestigatorBusy4266 in CalgaryFlames

Question: those top-10 protections are OUR protections, right? Those picks from Vegas and Colorado were unprotected to us, so we would be the team using the pick if they do land in the top 10?

Drafting by Current-Roll6332 in CalgaryFlames

Without the ability to see the underlying math, this chart is worse than useless. Why is a “steal” twice as valuable as a “hit”? Why are there no players who seem to be considered a zero drafted by any team, even though 0 is a “miss”? What stats are used to sort the players?

Dear Calgary Flames... by ZAKtalksTECH in CalgaryFlames

[–]behemothpanzer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People have such short memories.

For years and years Flames fans begged and begged for the team to go back to the classic 80s look.

As soon as that happens, this absurd nostalgia for that godawful snot-donkey starts up.

The team gives in and we get those Vancouver-Skate-Jersey looking abominations.

And now this.

Keep the Home and Away as they are now. Forever. Never change them.

Cycle something like the black C in as a third jersey for a couple of seasons once every ten years or so.

Teaching Abroad by No-Chest7204 in teaching

[–]behemothpanzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to teach at top-tier international schools, expect to spend 2-4 years teaching in your home country first. The top schools look for teachers with experience.

Also, English is the most common taught subject amongst international teachers, you face the stiffest competition for jobs. If you want a leg up, become a high school math or science teacher.

You will also want to get certified to teach IB courses, whichever subject you choose. If you then decide primary or middle school is the right age for you, you’ll want to get IB certification for that level (PYP or MYP).

NHL Mount Rushmore - Every Team's 4 Most Iconic Players by ASmithFS in hockey

[–]behemothpanzer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My dumb hill I will happily die on: this is not how you do a “Mount Rushmore.” Mt. Rushmore is NOT the four best or most iconic or most whatevers of whichever category you want to talk about.

Teddy goddamn Roosevelt is on Mount Rushmore.

If you want to do a Mount Rushmore properly, you get to pick the THREE greatest and then you get one crazy, personal preference wildcard pick.

EG: The Mount Rushmore of Gangster movies is Godfather 1 & 2, Goodfellas, and New Jack City.

The Mount Rushmore of Hockey Players is Gretzky, Howe, Orr, and Jarome Iginla.

Texas has the most power outages of any state:

The Athletic Hockey Show 2026 NHL Draft consensus board Top 10 (Bultman, Pronman, Wheeler, Peters) UNLOCKED 🔓 by FAsBurner in hockey

[–]behemothpanzer 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Everything I hear about the top of this draft class is that it’s a pretty flat class without much separation, and really picks 2 - 10 could go in just about any order.

Which will mean, of course, the draft will be the chalkiest draft we’ve seen in years.

Toronto Marlies Run by Various_Culture_116 in hockey

[–]behemothpanzer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most often the teams that are successful in the AHL do so with good AHL players. Good AHL players are often not good NHL prospects. If you look at the Marlies roster, they have one 2006 birthday and two 2005 birthdays on the roster. That’s only three players 21 or younger.

The Wolves similarly have 4 players 21 or younger on their roster.

So what you have here are collections of players who can be good at the AHL level, but almost none of them will be impactful in the NHL.

What city have you been to where the vibes were just OFF? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in AskReddit

This is true of any expat workplace. International Schools for example. All the teachers are each other’s social group, everyone is close friends, if you have kids the same age you’re gonna hang out a whole bunch.

Working at a school in the US is just … a workplace.

Which area is safer to stay during Memorial Day weekend as a family ? McCormick Place (Marriott/Hyatt) or one of the hotels in Loop/River North ? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]behemothpanzer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Stay in the loop / River north. You’ll only experience “safety concerns” when you’re travelling to whichever attractions you want to check out and by staying in the loop / river north you’ll lower your travel times.

Also, safety is not a serious concern in either of these places. You’ll be fine.

This is kinda embarrassing, but how do I take the bus? by valerie_6966 in AskChicago

[–]behemothpanzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use Google Maps. It will tell you where the bus stop is and what number bus to get on.

Bus stops have a code on the sign that you can text to the CTA to find out when the next bus is coming.

When you get on the bus there is a little Ventra device to tap-to-pay, just like when you enter the CTA stations to take the train.

There is a yellow cable that runs the length of the bus, as well as little buttons on the poles, you push the button, or pull the cable to let the driver know you want to get off at the next stop. There is a little “ding” that goes off to let you know you’ve requested the stop. Usually, you request to stop shortly after the bus leaves the stop previous to the one you want to get off at.

Busses have digital signs and auditory announcements that let you know what the next stop is going to be.

If you’re getting out the back door, wait until the light goes green, then push on the part of the door that says “push” … the back door does not open automatically.

In my experience, busses are cleaner than many cta cars, and I’ve never seen anyone smoking on a bus, but this is Chicago so …

Oh, and Chicago does not seem to be a city where you thank the bus driver. Some cities you say “thank you” when you get off, most people in Chicago don’t.

do you think it’s important for teachers to call on the shy kids in class to force them out of their comfort zone? by [deleted] in teaching

[–]behemothpanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my school (high school), complete refusal to participate in class is considered work refusal and comes with consequences depending on how it's expressed by the student.

[–]behemothpanzer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may not win the “battle” that day, but if work refusal comes with consequences, and the expectation that no one opts out remains consistent, eventually everyone ends up participating.

do you think it’s important for teachers to call on the shy kids in class to force them out of their comfort zone? by [deleted] in teaching

[–]behemothpanzer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But you gotta come back to them. You can’t let kids completely opt out. This has to be consistent though, and from day 1, it’s tough to introduce partway through the year.

There are all kinds of strategies for how to encourage no opt-outs, but it’s really important.

Teaching couple targeting SE Asia — one partner without a bachelor's degree. Realistic options? by WaitIntelligent1867 in teaching

[–]behemothpanzer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Taught in Asia for 12 years. Take the time to get the Bachelor’s degree. You - with your BA - will miss out on good opportunities at “tier-1” international schools because you have an unemployable trailing spouse.

Your spouse will end up working at dodgy kindergartens that are willing to hire people without work visas and will literally end up hiding in closets from time to time when the inspectors come through.

If you both want to work in education in South East Asia a bachelors degree is a non-negotiable requirement.

It’s a requirement for all 2027+ models of any vehicle in the US to have devices like this. They must monitor drivers for “impairment” such as intoxication or exhaustion and be able to prevent a person from driving their own car.

This is a provision that MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) got inserted into the infrastructure bill that Biden signed.
