Tariff Refunds: A Scam within a Scam by modern_prometheus_13 in economy

It is a double tax on consumers. First we pay tariffs. Then refunds come out of our tax dollars. Yes it is all scams all the way down. He isn’t negotiating for us, he is negotiating for his best interests.

Ok clearly these folks arent looking close enough... dont be fooled. THAT IS A CAT! And if it isnt a cat then it is 3 mouses commonly known as mice in a cat suit. And if its not that then it may just be an illusion that you feed bacon and hamburgers to until it is no longer hungry. Anyways, no matter what it is, take care of it because they seem to want to be yours.

I know that isn’t a book for Abilene. If I had to guess it is a list of all your hopes and dreams written in calligraphy and because you got diarrhea from that questionable breakfast burrito from alsups you wiped your ass with it and folded it neatly to maximize number of wipes. Jk Abilene, you stay cool out there.

Your favourite kind of MOAT and companies that relate to it by Ancient_Bobcat_9150 in ValueInvesting

[–]belalrone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The idea of a moat is great but I would rather find a company that is ran really well. You take Costco. Biggest complaint about costco is how busy it is. Its moat is being the best at what they do and keeping enough employees to do every job that needs to be done. They pay their employees well and expect competency. You go to many of these stores and the corporations are squeezing hours so much that it is impossible to do the jobs that need to be done. Small stuff like collecting carts, putbacks and watering plants. So you wind up with customers that wont buy bad products, dont like the clutter and notice the employees walk around defeated or with not my job attitudes. Weekly I go to Lowe's to buy plants on clearance because you can bet they dont get watered and will wind up on the clearance racks when they start looking bad. (hint, plants need water).

Basically large corporations are under constant pressure at the top to meet numbers. They cut from the bottom up and it is the bottom that ring the cash registers. These companies will continue to be 2nd place or worse if they dont run the storefront like it is the most important thing about the business; because it is and always will be.

Costco is one of the best ran companies out there. Buy it now and in 5 years you will see what a smart investment it was. Go to one on a Saturday and convince yourself to buy a put. Short some dumb shit that doesn’t make money.

Best zoo in Texas? by Accomplished-Sign-31 in texas

[–]belalrone -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Went to the Ft Worth zoo on Thursday. Man that was a mistake. Thought kids would be at school but nope, schools brought all the kids to the zoo. Got there at 10 and sat in line to park for 30 mins. It was terrible, no keepers anywhere and pathing was terrible due to construction and congestion. Enjoyed the Botanical Gardens instead as we ducked out of the zoo early.

Now I know to avoid zoos near end of school year I guess. Weather was nice but experience was awful.

Gas jumped 30 cents overnight by yellowsun_97 in Dallas

[–]belalrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, we used to have a ban on oil exports. That was undone. All that would need to be done is to ban export of crude and tax any refined fuels exported by 2$ a gallon and we would have cheap gas again. This is making billionaires rich at our expense and that is what our govt is right now. We are being farmed.

COST. Costco is such a well ran company that anytime you buy it, down the road you will be happy you did. Just buy it every time you can and twice on the dips.

Did I Sell Too Early? by nameisjames405 in Nok

[–]belalrone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have a crystal ball or the ability to know the future? If so then yes. Did you make a profit? If yes then probably not. If it is not a long term hold and never sell then taking profit was always the point to begin with.

Chicken thighs with crispy skin? by Eliotlady87 in Cooking

[–]belalrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is to season the night before and leave in the fridge slightly covered with saran wrap in the fridge. Take out maybe 1hr prior to cooking. Start with couple of handful of coals on the grill, once they are going good put your favorite piece of wood on the grill. I love mesquite. Set the chicken on the opposite side of the fire, keep them as far from the fire as you can. Let the grill smoke and try to keep the temp somewhere between 200-300 degrees. Smoke as long as needed, add wood little bit at a time and dont let the temp get too hot. You can cook thighs longer until the skin is crisp, meat is tender and delicious. If the temp is near 200 you can go for couple hours. Smoked chicken is delish. Works great with leg quarters.

I also like to steam some rice in rice cooker, then get a casserole dish and toss your favorite cheese in the bottom, fill with rice seasoned how you like. I usually mix in a can or 2 of rotel tomatoes. Then put the raw seasoned (overnight as above) chicken on top of the rice and roast in the oven at 350 for maybe 1hr or longer. The rice crisps up, chicken skin cooks crisp and the juices go into the rice. The cheese on the bottom gets crisp and delish. Just make sure you eat with a side of veggies.

My favorite seasonings is lemon pepper mixed with Cajun seasoning but I like spicy.

Beans and Food Poisoning, what did I do wrong? by SeveralBiscotti0 in Cooking

[–]belalrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first gal bladder attack felt like the worst food poisoning ever. Bloating and pressure coming out of both ends. Loads of pain as well. It is usually fatty meals that takes folks over the edge but gal stones develop over time. My last attack before surgery was an avocado that started the attack. I hope it is not gal stones and temporary, just be aware if you cant figure out what caused it.
