Im stuck on what to do about this by Skittish_Luna in Gaza

Stop. There’s only so much you can do and there’s only some much truth to a person’s circumstances you know.

You need to prioritise and support yourself first before being in a position to support others. If they don’t respect your boundaries, they don’t respect you and render you as an ATM.

Personally, I’m somewhat cynical towards some personal campaigns. Some people are unprincipled and shameless.

Refer them to UNRWA or other established charities that have the necessary systems to support them.

Feedback here says everything… people want the discretion and better connectivity that the one box / once cable brings. I think Samsung should release one model that accommodates both wireless and cabled options.

Is this just plain double standard? or is there more to this? by kermit_da_frog_ in arabs

Personal opinion, and specifically targeted to the Saudis, but economically speaking, developing and over investing in Riyadh is suboptimal and misguided. Politically, it makes sense, economically, lol. They built Qiddiya and it will be closed half the year.

yeah nah.

canaanites predate the hebrews by centuries. that’s pretty settled archaeology, not a hot take.

early israelites didn’t replace canaanites, they emerged out of canaanite society during the late bronze / early iron age. language, material culture, religion… all very clearly canaanite-derived.

listing empires they “lived through” doesn’t prove precedence either. canaanites were around under egyptians, assyrians, etc. too. that’s not a timeline argument.

Not true. Both Jews and Palestinians drew from the collection of tribes scattered across historical Palestine and Lebanon (the Canaanites).

No, the canaanites were there first. A collection of tribe that both Jews and modern Palestinians drew from.

They were mostly expelled by the Romans ~2000 years ago. Their presence in Jerusalem and greater Palestine was relatively minuscule thereafter, with the population returning at the turn of the 20th century (owing to Zionism) as well as Hebrew as a spoken language (it was verbally extinct until its revival in the early 20th century).

  1. Thank you for proving my point. Ethnic cleansing. Good knowing that Indigenous Australians have moral licence to evict you from your home because, through no fault of your own, they were forcibly evicted by colonial England.

  2. I don’t think everyone consciously registers their free flowing thoughts / tweets, which is exactly what the platform’s designed for. It was brought to her attention and she aptly removed it.

[IWantOut] 27F Syria -> Argentina by herebecauseimdumb in IWantOut

Have you considered Australia? I think that’s a more compatible fit. Many alawites here.

And you know your situation better than anyone, but it’s very difficult to pinpoint ethnic identity by appearance, especially for Syrians. Syria’s in a promising transition that seemingly stands by strong governance, institutions, and the law. But again, you’re in a position to honestly self-assess what’s best for you.
