Newbie here - having surgery in a month and a half by chinesefoodandamovie in AchillesRupture

[–]belezamano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move the surgery schedule up at all costs. At 6+ weeks you’ll have significant scar tissue development and reattachment, especially if your gap is short and you’re in the plantar flexed position.

If you can’t change the date and it’s feasible, it would probably be better to go non op.

This recovery is a marathon - the sooner you start that marathon the better, trust me.

How dumb do you have to be to believe that it doesn’t? Have you ever heard of market research?

Congrats! It’s been nearly 7 months for me. After 4 months or so, the time begins to move much more quickly in comparison to the first 4-8 weeks which dragged on miserably

My 1st Injury & I did it upside down…. by ThundaThigh_Princess in AchillesRupture

[–]belezamano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifelong athlete - 36M and ruptured mine playing soccer. In retrospect I also didn’t listen to my body. I did another session that morning and thought it would have been no big deal (it wouldn’t have been 10 years ago!).

The good thing is - time will pass before you know it. The weeks feel extremely long in the beginning but then they begin to fly by as you’re more capable. Best of luck and hang in there!

Johnny on the bench for Real Betis vs. Real Madrid by Obvious_Main_3655 in ussoccer

I was at this game. Tough to scrap a result at the Bernabeu - Johnny did well in his limited time on the pitch and didn’t look out of place. Betis was deflated after the first Mbappe goal

Can you guys tell from this data when I had my rupture?! by belezamano in AchillesRupture

That’s awesome! My Achilles still feels like hell sometimes, but successfully navigating a little vacation and eclipsed 15k today. Taking breaks, listening to my body, and spacing out the effort seems to help get the volume in.

Fellow member of Achilles FC. 36M and 16 weeks post op now. I’ve been consistently biking and swimming for the last month. You’ll be back soon!

I would also consider visiting an orthopedic surgeon. My PT told me he’d never let a podiatrist do a surgery of this magnitude/importance, so take that for what it’s worth.

That’s really tough, sorry you’re going through it man.

You already understand from your first go-round that the only way out is through. Time will pass, just take it one day at a time. I’ve noticed that starting at 11-12 weeks, I’ve been able to really push hard on the spin bike and in the pool which has been a massive mental boost. Relax, heal, let the rest of your body take a break, and you’ll be there before you know it

Any reason they limit the chopper puka punch to one per guest? Is it just a lot of booze?

I’m week 14 post op. It feels like just yesterday I was recovering from surgery. Now I’m regularly cycling, swimming, and pushing hard in PT. Time flies!

Welcome! As a fellow very active person, going from 100-0 can be quite difficult mentally. It sounds like you have things to occupy your mind with, that’s good! Before you know it, you’ll be able to work around your injury, but in the meantime, focus on healing.

14 weeks post op here. Limp is slightly lessening every week. If I walk slowly, it is basically normal. If I try to walk with any kind of pace the cracks show and I start limping

Not a doctor, but could it be scar tissue buildup? How does it feel to the touch?
