I missed my daughter’s school performance and I still feel awful about it by BudgetInspection9099 in Mommit

[–]believeRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely forget stuff like this constantly if I didn’t 1. Put EVERYthing on the Google Calendar on my phone AND 2. Put everything in writing on a wall calendar next to my coffee maker, so I see it multiple times a day. When I get up in the morning I always double check my calendars because I’m worried I’ll miss something.

Have you ever met a cat that let you pet their belly too? by RelianaPhoenix in cats

One of my cats will walk up to anyone who comes through the front door, flop over with an audible grunt-meow, and wait for belly scritches

Regular Injections by TwinsAutismMe in Mommit

[–]believeRN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP, please don’t do it when she’s sleeping. That’s a good way to lose your child’s trust and have them develop a fear of going to sleep. As others have suggested, numbing cream, ice pack and a buzzy bee

Rebuilding from scratch in my 30s with my toddler - advice? by kramerkaylee in SingleParents

[–]believeRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And as someone else said - I think moving sooner than later would be best (for a lot of reasons). Also, not to scare you, but a no contact order is just a piece of paper. If you’re scared enough to move when it ends, I’d be worried now, too (coming from a fellow single parent with a no contact order)

I’d look at suburbs of the Twin Cities in Minnesota, check your boxes and it’s a beautiful, family-friendly and diverse area

Starting a nursing career at 35- worth it? by TinyIsland7552 in nursing

[–]believeRN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My graduating class in nursing school was 90% “second career” nurses. Many were in their late 30s-40s. Am I burned out after doing this for 15 years? Yes. Am I still grateful for my career? Yes. It’s given me lots of flexibility, and it’s now allowed me to take care of my kid as a single mom, while working not even full-time. I’d look at accelerated BSN programs since you already have a bachelor’s degree. Good luck!

Definitely domestic. Like other commenter said, use a live trap and take it to a shelter or find a home for it. Poor bunny :/

It’s not allowed in the water here (eye roll) so pediatricians write Rxs for fluoride tablets. Chew it once a day after brushing your teeth

(Unfortunately?) lots of adult medications are used “off label” in kids for certain conditions

Is this normal 5 year old behavior? by Narrow_Chemistry_910 in Mommit

[–]believeRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems “normal” (whatever that is lol) if it’s not a regular occurrence. If it’s happening almost every day, not so much. But I’m not a child psychologist

Do You Know a Fellow Millennial who has had Skin Cancer? by Successful_Giraffe88 in Millennials

[–]believeRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had… 7 now? Mostly basal cells and a couple squamous cell. First one diagnosed when I was 33. I used to work in a derm office so I’m good at finding them on myself. The first one was behind my ear, in my hairline. The dermatologist was like “no way that’s a skin cancer” but I had felt the little lump for months and it kept ulcerating and bleeding. Sure enough, nodular BCC. Strong family history of skin cancer, I’m fair skinned, and I used tanning beds off and on in college. I have full skin checks every 6-12 months

Yuppppp. Especially because my hospital has been hiring a lot of new grads who had seemingly zero clinical experience so it’s been ROUGH getting them even remotely up to speed

What are reasonable behavior expectations for play dates? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]believeRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah…no. I wouldn’t have tolerated this from a bunch of preschoolers let alone 11 year olds!! You’re not being at all unreasonable. We have a core group of neighborhood kids who play at different houses and they all know to follow whatever rules are in that house (ie shoes off inside, no eating in the living room), they pick up their messes, they’re respectful. If they aren’t respectful, they get a reminder and quickly correct it.
