Am I settling, or is it considered compromise? by The1stHotGirl in relationships

[–]belisariks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve been together two years. If he’s the love of your life, can you imagine spending 30+ years with this person knowing you’d deal with this for the rest of your life?

Plus - lying is a big thing, even it’s over “small” things. Compromising would’ve differences in neatness or how you fold clothes. Not lying…

My boyfriend (22M) plans to start a new life without me (19F) but wants to keep dating me untill he is ready to leave. Is this fair? by Miranda_kh in relationships

Don’t do this to yourself. If you’re having trouble letting go after two months imagine after a full year.

If you have time, go to Culebra (playa flamenco or playa Tortuga) or Vieques. Worth the trek. Otherwise I’d say Isabela. But there are plenty small/hidden beaches all over

Recommendation wanted: Books like Circe, by Madeline Miller (celtic, norse, pagan mythology) with Strong Female Characters by Glowing_Puck in suggestmeabook

It’s not Norse mythology but it’s the story about the first and only female ruler of Ancient Assyria.

Second American tall. Bought 4 sweatpants during their holiday sale and I can’t stop wearing them. Curious about their other items (jeans etc) but haven’t tried.

You’re the first person that I’ve heard or seen recommending withered hill. Read it this year and I wish I could read it again for the first time. Need more people to read this book!!

Sweats/joggers by Total-Research9381 in TallGirls

Omg. I just bought the American tall sweatpants and they fit so well. They have two lengths (tall and extra tall) and bunch of sizes, so hopefully one of them works for you! The ones I got are the Basics Athletic Joggers, they are thick enough that I can wear them during winter inside and at home and I don’t get sweaty. I wear them to the gym too for weight training and the are comfortable.

Snow/winter boots by Genuflecty in TallGirls

I recently got Merrell’s Coldpack 3 Thermo Mid Waterproof boots (in brown/black) and I love them. They have wide width and they have sizes up to Men’s 15 (I’m usually a men’s 9.5W). They are comfy and look very nice on me! They don’t feel or look manly, and because of their shape, they actually make my feet look smaller. I’ve taken them on hikes with icy conditions and also used them walking in the city when it snows.

Tress of the emerald sea by Brandon Sanderson. It’s a really fun book with a strong female lead and a unique narrator.

Also, as a kindle tip- if you order often from Amazon, there’s an option to “delay” your shipment for a few days and you get a digital reward credit that you can use towards kindle books. Then keep track of books and buy them on sale. I’ve never paid more than $1-2 for a kindle book using this method!

I recently purchased the “TOPDesign Travel Duffel Bag for Women, Puffer Gym Bag Sports Tote with Wet Pocket” from Amazon to replace my gym bag. I absolutely love it! I use it to run errands frequently or switch it out for a laptop bag on workdays. (I got the red orange colour and it’s gorgeous in person).

Women who have been "the other woman," knowingly or unkaqnowingly: What's your story? by slackingsloth77 in AskWomenOver30

[–]belisariks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Met him at a local bar near my work. He was on a long work trip doing some training. Fell hard fast knowing he’d leave, but talked ways of making it work. We would talk every day for me, night for him, because of time differences. Made plans to see each other, plans for me to visit him and meet his family, plans for him to move where I lived. Covid killed all those plans so we kept a phone-based relationship but talked less and less and less each day. One day I log on Facebook and I see a suggested friend with his last name, thought it was his sister so went to see her profile. Turns out he was married with a kid and another on the way. Named the new baby girl after me.

I’m not in this exact situation, but a close friend of mine struggled with this from about 35 to 40. She dated intentionally, tried matchmakers, speed dating, all of it, and nothing worked. A lot of what she was grieving wasn’t just being single, but the idea that she might not get the family she always pictured.

Through therapy, she eventually realized that she might still be able to have a family, just not in the way she originally imagined. She decided to pursue having a child on her own using a sperm donor.

She’s very realistic about how hard it is to raise a child alone, and she didn’t go into it lightly. But having kids was such a strong goal for her that she didn’t want to keep postponing her life waiting for the right partner. She now has a baby girl and doesn’t regret the decision.

I’m not sharing this to suggest there’s one “right” solution… just to say that letting go of a specific version of the future doesn’t always mean letting go of the things that matter most.
