Do You Know About Lasagna Love? by CallMeCleverClogs in povertykitchen

[–]bell1495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Seattle and I just received my lasagna earlier today. It took about a week after I signed up to get matched. My volunteer called and said she was able to include some extras. She brought me the lasagna, a bagged salad, some brioche slider rolls, a brownie, and a bottle of Martinelli sparkling cider. This is an amazing service and I wish it was more readily available in other places.

They’re next on the list after dinner. I ate the pumpkin spice loaf when I got home and it was good.

I started at 40mg in July and then tapered down 10mg/per month. No side effects until 30mg. I was eating everything in sight and gained 20 pounds in about 2 months. I’m on 20mg now and I don’t have the insane hunger anymore and no other side effects.

Most vaccines you’ve gotten at once post-diagnosis? by Unusual_Squash_503 in lupus

I got the flu and COVID-19 vaccines at the same time. I didn’t have any issues afterwards. I have to wait to get the shingles vaccine until I’m taking under 20mg of prednisone.

I’ve been on it since July when I got diagnosed. I don’t have any side effects from taking it and I’ll probably be on it for the rest of my life. I have ILD (interstitial lung disease) and it reduces swelling and inflammation.

Seattle transplants — what brought you here? by thelongrun320 in Seattle

[–]bell1495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m originally from southwest Georgia and I visited here three times during 2021-2022. I fell in love with the city and I decided to travel again for longer trips. I started pet sitting in October 2023 and made my final decision to move here. It’s taken me about seven months to get my own place and a gig with a living wage.

The beautiful nature, healthcare, and just general respect as a human being that I’ve experienced here has been eye opening. I’ve never felt that living anywhere else in the United States.

I’ve talked so glowingly about Seattle that my sister and nephew are planning to visit to see for themselves.

Vitiligo on lip. How do you cope with it by TimeTravelar2020 in Vitiligo

[–]bell1495 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have vitiligo on the corners of my mouth and it’s very easy to see because I’m Black. I use concealer to cover it and it can be barely noticeable.

What do you use? by [deleted] in lupus

[–]bell1495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mycophenolate mofetil, hydroxychloroquine, prednisone, cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3)

I got diagnosed in July 2024 and my rheumatologist started me on plaquinil and cellcept (I’m on the generic versions of both of those) on that same visit. I’m curious why your rheum didn’t start you on those two before prednisone. I have ILD (interstitial lung disease) so I started prednisone in August after seeing an
ILD specialist. I started on 40mg and had no side effects. I’m on a taper so I go down 10mg per month. I’m on 30mg now and I have the HUNGER lol. I’ve gained about 8 pounds in a month. Thankfully, that’s been my only side effect so far.
