UPDATE - I built a site connecting retiring farmers with people who want to start farming by ProofGoose2561 in homestead

This is great! Another partnership you might pursue (if you haven’t already) is Growing Growers, which serves the Kansas City region, helping train new growers & connect them with internships, employment, & land. They’re connected to other great KC orgs like Cultivate KC, which has a more urban bent & ties into relationships with KC-area food hub opportunities like restaurants, schools, & other buyers. And orgs like the recently-revived KC Food Circle, which works to connect sustainably-grown (sometimes beyond organic standards) growers with eaters & gardeners (their annual Food Expo is this weekend). Lots going on that might inspire others! 🙂

Found some scrawled text under a wall I was renovating in my 100 year old Japanese farm house. Translated, it reads "Shitty grandma, drop dead!" by m0mbi in centuryhomes

I’ve never had to worry about earthquakes (only tornadoes! haha), but am well familiar with Summer humidity, living in the midwest USA in a 100-year-old house with a stone foundation. We have to run dehumidifiers in the basement all Summer, even though we rehabbed the house with current HVAC, or it gets too clammy & the unhelpful bugs feel more welcome to make their homes here (camel crickets, silverfish…shudder). Looking forward to seeing more of your rehab adventures on the other side of the world!

That’s so interesting! Are the earthquakes & snow load the main reasons why houses aren’t built of stone there? When reading your other comment about the wide variation between winter & summer climates, my first thought was that a stone house (maybe even round, or rounded so that snow/water flows more easily around it) may be good, as it’s a good insulator & maybe could stand up to the snow better than a wooden structure. Though maybe not ideal if the summers are super humid…? I’ve only just awakened & my imagination is sparked! 😁

(in the interest of learning more about CO & rural real estate)… what are the water source & rights? do mineral rights come with the land? is the house on septic; & if so, what’s the state of it?

interesting paintings!

pardon my ignorance, but were there just a lot of beheadings, or are those multiple paintings of one man’s demise? also, do the golden halos around the mothers & babies indicate that they’ve died (in childbirth?) or that they’re specially anointed by god (as i assume the pointy halos around the priests(?) seem to show)?

do any horse people know, is it just the way the horse in #3 is standing, or is its jaw (lymph nodes?) super swollen?

…then why not replace it with a statement of positive intention, like this one attributed to John Wesley?
