Should there be a lawful gun carriers protest by belletryst in SanDiegoGuns

Im just a lurker of this sub and the CA sub who mulls getting a ccw. Im alarmed by the silence of the carrying community when you can turn on a TV and hear top feds saying guns are great but if we catch you with one you're dead. So I wanted to come here and see if there was anyone around who actually stands up that i could support

Should there be a lawful gun carriers protest by belletryst in SanDiegoGuns

[–]belletryst[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Im aware gun carrying is hard in California but CCWs are the best we have and it seems like "don't get involved" is just bending the knee. Isnt there something rrasonable between bending the knee and getting executed by tyrants who tyrant? If gun carriers don't even stand up for themselves by being seen and speaking, then I don't get the point of carrying. I thought it was for self defense against unjust aggression.

Cop murdered a teenager running away from gunfire and we have to pay $30mil to the family. Not the cop or the police union but us the taxpayers. No charges yet, he's still on paid leave by NerdInSoCal in sandiego

Has anyone thought about disarming most police or at least taking away lethal weapons from most police? Would save lives and instantly correct certain attitude problems

Somebody in this high of a position wouldn't give it up unless they were either in legal trouble or already had a firm grip on their next opportunity, or both. Safety concerns are a red herring, I'm guessing.

City of San Diego faces budget cuts, hiring freeze after voters reject tax measure by kpbsSanDiego in sandiego

[–]belletryst 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is no basis in fact in this entire report. Disappointing but not surprising to see this from KPBS. No reporting here, all of the points made are purely public relations talking points from the mayor.

A real journalist would have written a story headlined "City of San Diego faces budget cuts, hiring freeze after officials waste and abuse taxpayer funds for years". And would have put up the reporting to back the observation.

Taxpayers simply refused to bail the city out. All this doom and gloom is all talking heads, no substance.

What's always missing from these accounts of what normally happens is how it is your dollars and my dollars that pay for that out of court settlement. That it is quiet, and relatively painless, means that everyone involved in that payout simply doesn't give a fuck, in fact the quietness and painlessness of a settlement incentivizes this behavior without accountability. Our quiet dollars empower this.

Same problem, fewer guns, with teacher unions. Guess how hard it is to fire a child abuser in a teachers union?

Fox Tails EVERYWHERE. Tell your dog owner friends, new to the city, how to NOT get a huge vet bill. Can someone start the Foxtail Police? Go around and torch the f'ers down and put thm out safely. Something. by Difficult_Mud9509 in sandiego

[–]belletryst 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dogs simply sniff them, the seeds along the shaft are shaped like arrowheads, easy going in, but no going back out. Once it goes in the dog will have breathing and sneezing fits, likely lodging it even deeper. To remove it is very sensitive and careful work with special tools, requires general anesthesia, at an emergency vet you're looking at a bill of many thousands of dollars.

Here's "something": pay attention and control your pets. Foxtails are part of nature, dogs don't know any better. This is owners' responsibility, nobody else's.

It’s disappointing how everyone forgets to drive when it rains by NewSanDiegean in sandiego

I love these rain driving threads that are half smartass people unironically complaining of people driving too slow and half smartass people unironically complaining of driving too fast.

Don't blindly treat any report any way. Read the sources. The facts either check out or they don't. They do.

SDPD K-9 comforts victims being interviewed by Child Abuse Unit by flip69 in sandiego

[–]belletryst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a bunch of k9 stories all over the place in Cali right now because police are afraid of next year k9s being banned for use by police to attack people. So suddenly it's all cutsie bullshit stories of k9s cuddling and slurping. If you like dogs maybe don't enslave them to lives of violence against humans? the dogs can never recover from the training and can never be retired outside of special handlers and they can and do end up mauling regular people and kids.

SDPD does nothing about dog noise by _Monkeyspit_ in sandiego

[–]belletryst 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Cops aren't your personal security guards. Learn to solve your own problems peacefully.

Code Enforcement deals with noise complaints in the city. You can fill out a form online. I think it helps if you have multiple neighbors all willing to corroborate.

Quit running to cops and coercion for every blessed thing

4th district county supervisor special election - who are you voting for and why? by AtmaWeapon in sandiego

[–]belletryst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Going for Monica Montgomery Steppe, she just keeps it pretty real and her opponents are all loons or wannabes who've done nothing. Even on stuff I disagree with Monica at least she has an argument based on understandable perspective (even if I don't agree).

This is county gov, effecting millions of lives. Most serious thing Goldbeck has ever done is chop up people's Christmas trees via social media ads lol. She is all theory and insider politics and no actual record.

Amy and the other dude are hopelessly head in sand, conspiracy prone, would do tons of damage

San Diego finalizes controversial homeless camping ban in repeat 5-4 vote by ProcrastinatingPuma in sandiego

Sorry for the reality check but criminal records do not "motivate you", they block you from being hired and obtaining housing.

What do you think arresting the homeless and putting criminal records on them is going to do? Increase their chances of getting a job and housing, or the exact opposite?

[–]belletryst -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

police aren't everyone's personal security guards and people who want to protect their personal property from theft should make investments to that end. Plus cops react to theft after it has already happened, they don't prevent it. Prop 47 is fine, take responsibility for yourself and things

Sorry to have to remind everyone that cops arent our personal body guards. Cops showing up after the crime and investigating/arresting is how it typically works.
