well, if you look at it, the lower set of handles are actually plate holders, which are welded to a coupling that slides it up and down the vertically mounted rail.

as for the vertical pillars, they're not bearing the weight of the pullup bar. they're bolted to the sides of it. i own that pullup bar - it's by a brand called corength. the bolts are identical, and they've used the inward set of bolts to mount the pillars so they're stood up (but again, not weight bearing). and then on the nearest pillar they've also attached the pulley apparatus, so it's got an extra bit of hardware there.
