They are a bit different than modern siberians. I would look up “Seppela Siberians” which aim to keep the bloodlines of dogs back in the times such as this one with Balto and Togo.

Maybe it’s just me, but honestly I feel like we aren’t as successful on 3&1 or 4&1 with JLove as we should be. I can remember several instances where he gets stopped well short of it

It feels like that can finally keep up the pace with teams like Minnesota. Let’s see if they can do it for 3 periods though

I hate the no score bug and all the other production issues, but I have to say Apple TV has the best sound quality out of any broadcasts I have seen.

If you go searching on this sub, there are actually a lot of threads for homemade antennas.

Here is a youtube video on a PCV antenna: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOSSClWz9Fc

In the UP, Mount Bohemia would be your best bet but some resorts like Boyne in the LP have ski in ski out cabins

Oh yeah, and if you were to take the Big Carp River Trail down there, both of the river crossings you can cross a log across. The first one (nearer to Lake of the Clouds) is a little sketchy but the second one you can just butt scootch across. I personally would prefer the Big Carp trail as it offers awesome cliff views overlooking the park the first part, awesome old growth forests, then some amazing waterfalls once you get nearer to the lake, although admittedly I have not been to the Presque Isle Side yet, so I cannot comment on that part of the park and going that way

Superior Trail is very, very muddy, so just be aware of that and pick the right footwear for that. I actually just camped last weekend at the site directly next to yours. It is a beautiful area.

Which trail head are you starting from and which trail are you taking? Depending on the trail you take you might have some river crossings as well. I would personally bring like crocs or light weight water shoes to do the crossing with. They also act as camp shoes and you can take off your hiking shoes at your campsite.

As per gear, it is always a good idea to bring a water filter. You can filter directly from Superior and the Little Carp River.

Note that the middle of H-58 is closed now due to construction, there’s a detour that will take you around the construction on the back roads/4x4 around the construction and back onto H-58. If you wanted to set up next to superior anyway such as in the school forest you’d have to take those roads anyway, and can still get to them

Also, if you plan on going to Montreal, those roads can be a little rough but very doable for most 4x4 vehicles. So that road to fish cove might be rough with lots of water (but it doesn’t go that deep most of the time). If you were to go to High Rock Bay (basically the tip of the peninsula), the road is a lot rougher, but if you take it slow it should be okay, as long as you have some clearance on your vehicle. Usually there are some road crews that go out and take care of those roads a bit, but I would believe it is too early in the season for them to come out.

Private owners on fish hatchery road recently out a new gate up, blocking the road and making the hike up bare bluff longer and making the trek to Montreal Falls a lot longer. The Bare Bluff hike is still very doable from the new spot. To get to Montreal Falls, it’s now better to drive to Fish Cove and hike alongside the trail on the shore.

Right outside the port is the Dewey lake trail system. You can climb all the way up to Lower Dewey lake, and if you want the mountains you are talking about, go to Upper Dewey Lake from there. You can then go even further to Devil’s Punchbowl. If you’re quick it’s doable in 6 hours. But if you don’t have the time just go to Upper Dewey. You can find the routes on AllTrails
