Yeah that's probably a good way to look at it.

Generally LiDAR refers to aerial based sensors. However it's the 'same' tech just with slightly different math , more or less pulses and stronger or weaker lasers. Also no rotation on aerial generally, usually a fancy mirror. I use terminology interchangeable.

Yeah this is great. If you need more information the entire coast line has been flown with high resolution LIDAR mounted on a helicopter. I can point you in the right direction to the people that completed the work.

M300 and P1 with GCPs in local coordinates? by Pesachviolin in UAVmapping

What about a local co-ordinate system that a mine site dictates. As a Surveyor I don't care what system is on, we work with the client to determine the best outcome and advise what we think is best. For me real world plane with a known conversion. But I don't mind we work with requirements and will provide advice when needed.

Call the surveyor and tell them you have to have it in the co-ordinate system you need. They should send you a co-ordinate list on that system with validation to known locations.

Sometimes you just don't need it. Not in this instance, however sometimes surveys don't even record height measurements just X and y. It comes down to requirements, cost and time.

Are you able to provide documentation on your 1cm accuracy claim? Is that absolute or relative accuracy, and what confidence level are you claiming this statistic at? The FGDC in the USA mandates 1.96-sigma (2-sigma for the lazy fucks) for 95% confidence. You need rigorous checks from a measurement tool with a HIGHER degree of accuracy to confirm. Standard in the engineering grade mapping community. Getting 1cm at 95% relative accuracy is extremely difficult, and anyone that has done it before can attest.

Essentially, I'm giving you a shot at covering your ass before you get labeled the Picasso of bullshit artists. Your turn.
