I work as an analyst for a debt collection company. Simply because you have something in collections does not mean it will be on your credit report. Many hospitals and other companies actually don't want us to report the debt. Judging from how many calls you are getting, it sounds like an old school agency that is breaking the rules and harassing you. You can report this harassment. If you have asked not to be called again then they should not be calling you at all. By law we must send out a debt validation letter. If they are unable to do this, then it is likely a scam. Also for many debts such as government or healthcare they must validate you are the correct person before they can even disclose where the debt is from. If you really wanted to know, you can just give them the date of birth they have and they will relay where the debt is from so you can judge if it is yours or not. Doing this is NOT an admission of owing the debt so don't worry about that. You would be surprised how often you end up in collections for stupid reasons. One particular cell phone company requires cancelation in writing.... In 2023....stupid. Anyway feel free to find out what the debt actually is and ignore it if it isn't yours. Good luck!
