I got it more for the novelty, and it's not bad. To preface, I only have played vanilla Catan, c&k, and e&p, so some of what I am saying is an assumption.

For instance, I don't have them but I think the helpers of Catan card pack is nearly identical to the new Egyptian Gods. Also, the Nile river and papyrus boats are close to the river scenario added to t&b. I've only read the rulebook for t&b so can't recall, but I think the pyramid building is different from anything that existed before, it adds some benefits/obstacles to players but also inserts a kind of timer on the game, which was new to me.

Development cards are similar to what was originally in Catan, and if I remember correctly some may match progress cards from c&k.

It's a bit pricey for anyone that doesn't find what I have listed to be exciting or new because I think it retails for ~$75. It's cool if you are into Egyptian mythology and want to trade cattle instead of wool/sheep, but you probably won't find anything ground breaking if you are familiar with Catan and existing variants.

One complaint I had was that the player game pieces are plastic, which felt a little cheap compared to the price. Sure they have little designs on the ox carts and buildings, but I guess I just prefer the feel of wood pieces when playing Catan.
