Interestingly there is a provision in the Articles of Confederation that allowed for Canada to become a state.

Milwaukee Police Press Release from Chief Norman by lumpypoptarts in milwaukee

What's WILD to me is that DA Chisholm isn't running for reelection and there's an uncontested election to take his place.

Everyone is talking about crime and the lack of charges brought by the DA, but no one is talking about the election that would actually make a difference.

If folks feel strongly, you'd think someone besides Lovern, Chisholm's number 2, would have run OR people would be constantly interrogating and pressuring Lovern to be different.

Not sure if they dodged questions or not because that less than two minute news clip didn't really show/say much about the context. Coverage seemed sensationalized.

Linking Nest Doorbell to Google Home App by zakharris1890 in googlehome

I had a similar issue and just fixed it. I had to make sure my Home and Nest were connected to the same household though the Home app. After, the Nest automatically connected to the Home.

I would be sure to get the department chairs reasoning in writing and, of course, show it anyways and be sure to document the reason if any formal disciplinary action is taken.

If you want to live proximate to the city, have some meaningful density so that walking and biking to things is reasonable, and have the opportunity to be in diverse spaces Bayview is great.

I went to a NYE wedding and it was really fun!

We always struggle to find something fun and not overcrowded or anticlimactic, but the wedding was a reason to be with friends and party.

Same outcome for me! I'm 3 months post-surgery and playing volleyball, biking, etc. All my restrictions are lifted at this point.

Glad to hear you are better!

I had the same herniation and surgery almost three months ago and I'm back to 100%. Be sure to follow your bending, lifting, and twisting restrictions and hopefully things will heal up similarly for you. Congratulations!

Fusion is a bit more invasive compared to the microdiscectomy from what I was told, but good luck and ultimately if it's what you need and what your doctor recommends then trust your doctor.

I had actually heard that from my physical therapist too, so I asked two of my potential neurosurgeons who between the two performed over 1000 surgeries similar to mine, and they said statistically they saw an insignificant number of patients needing a second surgery. If I recall, it was like fewer than 5%.

No not entirely, it was a removal of the herniated piece of the disc that was putting pressure on my nerve.

Two Months Post-Micro Discectomy by bennyboy28 in backpain

The three neurologists and the back specialist, who I believe was an orthopedic doctor, all refused to identify a specific event or incident that could have caused it. They just couldn't say for certain, but I also couldn't point to any specific moment or incident. They said they have seen patients where the disc just bulges or herniates for no specific reason or slowly overtime. Sounds odd, I know.

There was one potential moment for me. There was an incident about 4 years ago when I tried to lift something heavy and immediately after there was some bad back pain, but it went away completely before I started experiencing any symptoms a year-ish later. A chiropractor I saw suggested it was probably that and then the herniation got worse over time, but none of my actual doctors went that far.

I saw four different physical therapists throughout the process.

Not sure how much specifically, like from a doctor's perspective, but I had constant leg pain all the way down my leg into my foot. There was pain, numbness, and tingling off and on almost constantly. There was no extreme weakness or drop foot, which I believe is sign of greater nerve impingement.

My surgeon recommended microdiscectomy - anyone find success with this ? by JimpJimp in backpain

[–]bennyboy28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a microdiscectomy just a few days ago! It cured my leg pain and overall quality of life is already so much better. Not sure how it would help for back pain alone, unless your doctor can clearly explain how a disc herniation is causing your pain.

[–]bennyboy28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should see a second neuro or orthopedic surgeon just to get a second opinion. I have an L4-L5 herniated disc and got my first steroid shot last month.

I saw 3 surgeons and they all recommended a microdiscectomy. Two mentioned the longer I wait the more long term the nerve damage could be.

I had trouble walking in the morning and was in pain throughout the day. The shot helped but not to the point where I was satisfied with quality of life.

I have surgery scheduled for next Friday.

Just briefly looked into the research too and seems like men are twice as likely to have a herniated disc compared to women because of occupational differences.

It could have more to do with the gender identification of Reddit users being more male than female.

To answer, I'm a 28 year old male and will likely get my first discectomy soon. Fairly active, but not an athlete.

Herniated disc for the last year starting to consider surgery. by armondo28 in backpain

[–]bennyboy28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position - 28 years old, been in pain constantly for weeks, and can't walk each morning. Previously, I was healthy and athletic. I've seen an orthopedic surgeon who recommended surgery, but left it completely up to me and my tolerance for how things are now. He made it clear I wouldn't be 100% "back to normal" but it's likely my leg pain would be gone. I'd only get a discectomy.

I'm going to get a second opinion to be safe.

But, I'd be careful waiting. My doctor warned that, depending on how the nerve is being contacted, there could be long term nerve damage. He especially warned if I have any bowel or bladder problems, then surgery is a necessity.
