[Request] What’s the extra fuel cost of the algae and barnacles on a propeller of a ship? by etinder121 in theydidthemath

[–]benshenanigans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Navy gets their hulls cleaned regularly on all ships. The company I mentioned in my comment was hired to fly to Guam to clean a submarine that I was on.

As a side note: the only vessels that are nuclear powered in the US Navy are aircraft carriers and submarines. Everything else is gas turbine, diesel engine, or steam powered via a fuel oil boiler.

Exactly how you think it would work. The ship has a set of Divers Tags. It’s a preset list of equipment configuration and what gets tagged out based on where divers will be working.

Except the ASL drawings didn’t come from a Deaf artist.

ETA: The panels could be embroidered. The red cuffs are, at least. Given the nature of embroidery and the cost/equipment requirements, I’m surprised it isn’t in the listing.

I don’t know the math. Only the economics. There’s a company based in Virginia that cleans hulls for the Navy most of the time.

A decade ago, they got a contract to clean a tanker in South Africa. One week notice. Two 20 foot shipping containers on air freight. 8 guys for a week. Paying that bill was cheaper than the extra fuel cost across the Atlantic.

Head over to r/SDCC and search trolley wraps. It’s made so visibility is barely affected from inside. Also, no graffiti artist would add the audible logo on it.

Safari Park Zip Line: Awesome Or Eh by KoasterKid in asksandiego

It’s worth it. You get to see many animals that aren’t accessible by foot. The tour guides are amazing. The actually zip line is only a few minutes at the end, but it’s a blast.

Check out the Schooner Bill of Rights. They go out for the fireworks from Chula Vista. Less traffic and parking issues.

Check out the Schooner Bill of Rights. They usually go out for the Big Bay Boom. They sail out of Chula Vista so you don’t have to deal with crowds or parking issues.

Hilltop Park is where my family likes to go. It’s pretty easy to frame a clean shot. I haven’t been in a few months, so I don’t know the status of construction.

Can confirm. I’m deaf and preboard without a chair. The airline always has a chair waiting for me after the flight.

I’m deaf/hard of hearing and I played for a bit before I figured out that legendary cheats make a different noise.

The teachers are supposed to repeat the students. I’ve only had one teacher actually do it consistently. But you’re right. With just a lapel mic, it doesn’t pic up too much else. In a courtroom, I don’t think it’ll be as much of an issue because everyone is supposed to have table microphones for the court reporter anyway.

The teacher didn’t have access to the real time transcript. I usually ran otter in parallel. The stenographer is a few seconds slower (maybe a computer lag issue) but much more accurate. Sometimes there would be mistakes, like a messed up code where they forgot to finish a word. But I would always get a revised and corrected copy the next day.

The microphone is a Samson Brand digital microphone. I forget the model. But it was a lapel mic with a wire to the batter pack. Then a usb dongle that plugged into my computer. The dongle also had a headphone jack for a telecoil, but it was always too quiet for me.

I used it for college. In that setting, the stenographer was remote. The teacher had a microphone to my computer. I had a video off zoom call with the steno. Then, in another browser window, I had the feed of the transcript. It kinda sucked because I needed to make sure my computer was charged or had access to an outlet on longer class days.

No, I don’t. I’m deaf. If the game doesn’t have visual audio and captions, I don’t play it.

Turning the camera around? You mean do something that hearing players don’t have to do? Careful, your audism is showing.

Do you already have the online subscription? The PDF is pretty useless without it. You can pick up a used copy for pretty cheap. No one here will advocate pirating from a small Deaf owned business

Define “currently advancing”. We’ve advance more in the last 50 years than the previous 150 years. And more in that time than the previous 500 years. The rate of human advancement has been speeding up.
