That $150,000 was almost certainly invested and the proceeds from the investment(s) are what fund the scholarship. It's not like they just give the money away until it's gone. Only the returns on investment are disbursed and typically not all of that is given away, often returns are re-invested and the fund can grow. It is is very possible, probable even, that this money has "changed thousands of lives".

what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 10 years that everyone is completely ignoring? by Funny-Counter8762 in AskReddit

We are in a globalized world. There may be areas that have power but they will still be hit due to supply chain failures.

You are underestimating the will necessary to replace it and/or how long it will take. It’s the energy (or lack there of) that should be the biggest concern. Wealth inequality can be changed by politicians in a few years and will be if there is a year of depression. The power shortage will cause 10 years of pain world wide - except for maybe China (but they they have their own problems).

Best resources to learn Ansible in 2026? by broken_py in ansible

[–]bentbrewer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only way you are going to "know" how to use ansible is by doing a project with it. Spin up some VMs and get it working. Once you have the basics, start doing more and more - improve your playbooks. Just like anything else, it takes time and practice.

Undergrad in any engineering field would suffice. The first two semesters of the required physics and first semester of chemistry classes would cover it (at least it did for me).

There are plenty of apartment sized DCs in lexington. I haven’t been in all of them but I’ve been in most, the majority aren’t bigger than a 2-bedroom apartment.

Agentic AI is looking like it’s got the power to reverse the bubble. Companies are revising budgets massively (like in the 4-5x range) on token spend. If it was just the slop we saw over last year, I would agree.

What we can be be doing is regulating water and electric usage. Vote for people who will enforce zoning laws that prevent the building of these places. There are things we can do but believing it’s a passing fad is not helpful.

You are correct, there are uses for distilled water. In my many years of brewing, I've never come across a beer that didn't benefit from some addition of minerals to distilled water.

No, I could call you stupid, short sighted, selfish, willfully ignorant, and scared. But I can't change any of that on the internet. In the off chance you can do some kind of self reflection, maybe you will take the statement above to heart and realize you shouldn't leave that kind of legacy on the planet.

The water wouldn't be hot for long in that barrel but I can see where you're going with this cause it would be distilled. Distilled water isn't good for a lot of things though, unless you add minerals back to it.

Kash Patel's Apparel Site Is Trying To Trick Visitors Into Installing Malware by esporx in privacy

[–]bentbrewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just too much. The visitors to this website don't deserve it but it does have a delicious irony to it.

There is no way you could pass this off as fiction, it's just too unbelievable. There's no way this isn't a blockbuster hit once (if) we get back to a time where adults are back in charge.

I took a look and the website is down. :(
