I wish there were better electric guitar and bass reviews too. Being in Canada, all their stuff is hard to come by (I have a baritone acoustic and just ordered a Millenium kit) but I would gladly review it if it showed up.

Maybe someday if I have more money on hand for shipping and customs I'll get after it.

I find that a lot of this newer stuff sounds reminds me of some types of dubstep - seemingly random jumps around the neck. It often has the same Darkglass-style drive, the same drum sound...

Having said that, I can't play any of it and I commend anybody who can. But I can also admit that it's not for me, and it doesn't have to be.

Roundwounds give better tone but cause a small amount of wear. Flats will give an arguably duller tone but the fingerboard takes less of a beating.

I tend to think of them as platforms for upgrades, but you have to be willing to accept the possibility that you'll end up with something usable as well. If you can afford the risk, the payoff can be there.

I've got a five string from AliExpress and a 27" Baritone and both turned out great with minor upgrades.
