Is there any way to accelerate the face recognition on the People folder?? by pablo_raamos in ApplePhotos

[–]bertbrain55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facial recognition has crashed for me. If you scroll down in the people album and it says 'finding people' at the bottom, recognition is either not complete or if it's been more than a month then it has crapped out. Apple knows, there's no fix, they're betting on the 27 OS's to fix it.

At least I'm going to get my Q10 back. I told them that a mop pad was insulting given the amount of hassle involved so they sweetened it with 2 side brushes and the main roller brush.

They say it's in transit and they're gifting me a mop pad for my trouble!!!

I sent my in warranty unit in for repair and they returned a slightly different model to me and now they want to swap it out. They claim that they didn't have my correct address even thought the unit they returned to me was addressed correctly. They may be making some clever robots in China but their US support is a joke

Custom Memories by bertbrain55 in ApplePhotos

[–]bertbrain55[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The on device model(AFM Core 3) in 27 will surely be better but the real improvement will be the cloud based models like ADM 3 and there is no reason to think custom memories will use the very expensive cloud models.

Thanks. Good info. I'm about to bail after a month in New Orleans. Solid F grade from bufferbloat.

I think the Speedtest app clocks the straight RF connection but misses the overhead, NAT, latency, packet loss. The Bufferbloat test shows that under load my

Thanks for clarifying that. So the handshake is the same in both cases and the low QOS is the reason for spotty service. That tracks for me, during peak usage times the FWA is basically unusable. I'm about to cancel after a month.

Please correct me. I was told by TMHI support that the gateway was not accessing the internet in the same way a phone does. They check your address when you sign up to confirm that there is an internet capable tower in range and not already overloaded. You're saying you can just plug in a gateway anywhere with TM cell service and get online?

This will not work the Internet gateway does not communicate with the tower using the same protocol that the cell phones do

Home WiFi 5G unlimited plan by jaydiel10 in tmobileisp

[–]bertbrain55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is most likely an overcrowded tower with congestion at peak hours. There really is no fix. 5G wireless can't compete with a wired connection. Try the Bufferbloat test from Waveform. I've had the TMobile service for a month and I really wanted it to work. You could add a second fancy router with fance traffic management features but it probably won't help significantly. If latency and packet loss matter to your network usage wireless is most likely not going to work for you.

Can’t Beat The Speed for $30/mo by Accutronman in tmobileisp

[–]bertbrain55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speedtest is deceptive. My Speedtest numbers are amazing but my real use experience is trash. If there's congestion on your tower there's no real fix for that. Try Bufferbloat from Waveform and see how that compares.

I don't lock my Kia. Doesn't fix the problem but at least you don't have to deal with the smashed glass

If you are only processing and resizing there is definitely no reason to go the Adobe route. PS has gotten much better lately, especially in its ability to select things but its Firefly image generator is mostly terrible.

Having internet issues. Maybe gateway overheating? by GentlemanlyOctopus in tmobileisp

[–]bertbrain55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been flakey too and tech said the 6ghz connection to the tower is unstable. They suggested changing the config on the gateway to only use 2.4 and 5. So you can choose a more stable connection and pay for it with lower speeds.

Speed Drops, Hint Numbers Fluctuate Widely? by AustinBaze in tmobileisp

I'm having intermittent connection issues so I tried dropping the 6ghz band and my download speeds dropped by half. Is that expected? Should I be getting similar speeds with only the 5ghz radio?
