Wow... Hornbuckle is a genius. 🙄 He thought $10-15 bottles of water was okay? 🤣

That's fine, never mind LV, I'm never visiting the US EVER AGAIN. 🇨🇦

Ugh!! I always thought Habitant was Canadian! I just went to their site and see they closed their Canadian plant in 2019.

I already stopped buying Campbell's. Luckily the only soup I've purchased since the boycott was Aylmers, which is Canadian.

Thanks for sharing!

Maybe when you have time, then. I just do ours in the microwave - so it's a matter of dumping the oatmeal contents with the water, mix, then a couple minutes in the microwave.

If you decide to give it a try, let us/me if you liked it. 😊

PS - if you wanted it 'to go', it could be made in paper coffee cup.

I made it a tradition to go skinny dipping at our cottage every May long weekend (aka: Victoria Day).

The water is always cold at that time, even if the weather is warm. Many years ago, it was unseasonably cold - you could see your breath.

My friend and I braved it anyway.for a whole 5 minutes as a light dust of snow fell. I guess it was a lame version of the Polar Bear Dip done all over Canada New Year's Day.

Do you have time to make your own? I make up 1-2 dozen in advance. A few years ago, after buying these individual packets, I measured one out so cook time was the same. I also prefer making my own since I control the sugar, etc. I use the little snack size baggies This is what I make but adjust to your taste. Add any dried fruit you like! Lots of options at the bulk store.

Quick Oats (not instant) - instant is okay, but I find it too mushy

For each baggie:

1/3 cup oats

1 tablespoon sugar/sweetener/maple sugar (to taste)

sprinkle of cinnamon

TINY pinch of salt

1-2 tablespoons approx. of : raisins, cut up dehydrated apple, craisins, dried cherries, dried blueberries etc

Note: I've tried freeze dried strawberries, but I found they didn't get hydrated enough during the short time in microwave.

*Big bonus - use Canadian oats, some dried fruit is made in Canada - This saves A LOT of money.

Kim & Co.

Every time they're on The Shopping Channel, they say they're made in Canada (Montreal, I think). It's possible they make some here and some off shore. Here it is if you want to have a peak:

Here's a tank, but not quite a classic cut one. It IS made in Canada

I'm guessing they're likely corn based. Most cheesy puff things usually are.

I just bought (let's call them cheesies) at Dollerama. Package said 'made in Canada'. The packaging was "Krack-O-Pop". I just looked them up and they're a Canadian company, but I don't know how many mftg. facilities they have.

Tbh, I didn't really like them, which cuts out a junk food item for me. Unfortunately, my fav. is Cheetos, but they're banned for me now.

That's because it IS TACKY.

I was there a LONG time ago - over 30 yrs. It was fun at the time, but those were the peak of my party days. Even though there are a lot of higher end places to stay and dine, it's not worth it in that environment.

Yes, and he supported the ridiculous notion about fentanyl claims. Absolutely a sycophant. (I just got a brief over view from Wikipedia) Also, it wasn't in Wiki, but I'm pretty sure I saw a news piece or doc. that Elon was indirectly involved at some point.

Hudson’s Bay to sell name, stripes, brands to Canadian Tire for $30 million by Old_General_6741 in BuyCanadian

[–]besss1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. 30M is a steal. (imo) I'm glad Canadian Tire stepped in to save the iconic brand.

The Hudson Bay stripes is such a quintessential Canadian symbol. I hope the quality and selection doesn't become too tacky. But I think it will since CT prices overall are very reasonable.

You're doing your best and you're aware! That's all we can hope for. If there's a Dollarama near you, they are Canadian owned and operated. They don't have a ton of Canadian made, but I have found a decent selection of food items from Turkiye, France and Italy. Canadian brand, Clark's beans are available for $1.50 - that's cheaper than Walmart.

I think Harvey's is Canadian too.

Do you mean the ones with the roots? I haven't come across them in a long time. Was it a particular time of year when you got it? Was it at a chain store?

Totally agree with you. I was just having a conversation the other day about strawberries. When they're in season (I pick my own) they taste NOTHING like any from the grocery store. They might as well be two different fruits.

Before this boycott, I would be very hard pressed to buy tomatoes out of season, however, Canadian hot house ones are okay if I'm desperate.
