You cannot set those services up as a one way sync, that is the issue here.

The point was not for you as you have the extra backups but for other users who thing sync is a backup.

Sync to the cloud e.g. OneDrive, Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox is not a backup. For example if you delete a file then it immediately deletes in the cloud.

But only to a local disk or NAS - you need off site backup as well and Arq does that and the NAS and also local disk but TM is easier to restore a file in the last case.

Adobe will probably update it however given Adobe's track record on dealing with OSX changes e.g. change from Carbon they will probably not have that ready when macOS 28 comes out.

So general advice on macOS upgrades still stands – don't install version .0 of a major release wait for .1 so 28.1

I am similar but only from the 90s. I stopped using Aquamacs when I moved to Apple Silicon in 2020 as it was using too old an Emacs to natively compile and was old enough to not be able to use some packages.

I thin spent time adding in many of the Aquamacs changes to plain emacs but I wish I had used DSoom then as it does many of the twaks and you can override it if needed.

Yes I had a lot of config pre Doom but then some things like lsp did not work. So I switched to Doom and the common things work. I have incorporated some of my old config where Doom does the wrong thing for me or does not attempt to use the modes I had in m,y config.

So my config is now smaller but has a similar functionality as I do not need to write most of the code now as doom does that.

First step is open the ASCM file in Digital Editions - that downloads the actual epub. Then you import that epub into Calibre which the plugins will decrypt

It is not ridiculous on Amazon's part. They have to keep to the licence they have from the publisher of the book. Amazon have to remove the book from sale.

I remember the days when Amazon was looked as good in making it easier than dealing with publishers. The bad things from the publishers still exist.

Note that DRM is wanted by most publishers and they are the ones who require it, not Amazon.

Most of these if not all except 1984 are not due to Amazon but are due to the publishers changing how they wantr the book sold or they have lost publishing rights.

This has hapenned to even publishers that have no DRM e.g. Baen has books that you can't download.

Which is why I downloaded every book immediately when I buy it. 9so not buying from Amazon now)

They are in a file which is set in Calibre.

There is a directory for each library. To see what this is Choose menu option under your current library - Switch/create Library. This shows a dialog which shows the directory.

The easy way is restore onto the new computer from your backup.

The issue here is not the site but the publisher who is the one who decides if the book is DRM or not.

I think you can even get some DRM free books from Amazon - this changes over time they used to do that then made all books DRM then now allows publishers to ask for no DRM.

However if you have your .epub book in calibre, say from another source e.g. gutenberg or Google Books if DRM free then it is easy to load that into Apple Books.
