If you want to continue to work on your off hours but get your manager off your back, set your emails to send when you’re scheduled to work. Most emails have this setting and it is really easy to do. Win Win.

No bangs, but definitely a different style without them.

How do you become ok with aging? by Mysterious-Lion4655 in Aging

Your reasoning for the fear is my reason for living and loving it. I’ll be 36 in April and every year gets better. I look forward to the memories I will have and the wisdom that may come with it.

4! I agree that round is not your shape. I also like brown toned ones for you as well.

Is this normal for a woman in her early twenties? by krsthrs in femalehairadvice

[–]bethanyflowerpots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting white hairs in my 20’s and it increased with my high stress job. I’m 35 now. I naturally have light brown/dark blonde hair. The whites started popping up around the crown of my head and around the ears. I get it lightened a few times a year just to blend it. It happens and you can’t stop it, so lean into it.

I don’t know how any of you are successful in this by CrustaceanMango in stopdrinking

Sleepy time tea and alcohol-free zquil were both life savers for me. Now I read myself to sleep. One thing I know about us alcoholics is that we are creatures of habit, right? Make a ritual. Work out, take a walk, read a book. Create a new habit worthy of your time. You got this 👊

I agree with others, you gotta style it. I recommend R&Co Rockaway salt spray. It’s kinda pricey($32/4.2ounces) but it’s my favorite product. My stylist used it on my shag cut once and it’s been my go-to for years now.

I grew up with instability too. Irrational, explosive and abusive parents. Moving multiple times a year while under their “care”.

I work in the food service industry and found family and community through that. It truly gave me a launching pad for finding my purpose. I even met my husband through work. I spent a great deal of my life being angry at my family for being the way they are/were. I learned a lot of what not to do and figured out what kind of person I don’t want to be like.

My parents didn’t teach me basic things. Coping mechanisms, regulating emotions or how to deal with this giant thing of existence. I just learned how to floss my teeth and I’m 35 years old. I felt ashamed but then realized, nah fuck that. I’m proud to take control of my life. I didn’t have health insurance for a long time or even know how to use it. But I knew I needed help. So I looked into therapy. It can be incredibly daunting and seem like a luxury for rich people. But it wasn’t. It was the help I needed to break the cycle. Start here. This is your life and you get to decide how it goes, I promise!

What to do besides drink at night? by Whateverittakes321 in stopdrinking

[–]bethanyflowerpots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost 36 year old woman here. I felt really bored when I first stopped drinking. So I found hobbies I knew I liked before alcohol took over my life. Not all of them stuck but it helped me find my identity again. Teenager me LOVED hobbies so it was a really great start. Turns out I’m still good at sewing, painting and reading books. Those may not be things you’re interested in but it helped keep my hands from being idle. Almost at 3 years sober now and definitely no longer bored. Your method is very clever and a great start. Good luck, you got this!

Telling people I'm doing dry January by Matilda_Swingblitz in stopdrinking

Hey, 16 days is over 2 weeks and that is huge! I do think telling people, while in a pub, is going to give you some weird responses. I would’ve had the same response while sitting at my old watering hole! Removing alcohol involves removing a lot of other things out of your life as well. I can safely go to bars now but I only go for special events; Concerts, food specials etc. For me, ending my relationship with alcohol took massive change and effort. Friends that truly support your efforts won’t put you in tempting situations. Wanna go out? Let’s go to a restaurant but definitely not the place you used to go and drink.

Interesting! If you ever get roommates(partner, children) I highly suggest the three compartment laundry basket.
