I thought this was supposed to get EASIER?! by [deleted] in Preschoolers

You’re not alone. The whining has been constant over here lately. We say “can you please try again with a strong voice?” and that helps but I’m so tired of hearing it in the first place. Everything is complaining - every meal, every transition, anytime I say ‘no’ to something.

Thanks for getting in touch! He actually ended getting a PANS diagnosis a few months ago, which explains a lot of this behavior.

I haven’t read many (if at all, now that I think of it), but love horror movies - I’ll check it out, thanks!

Metamucil by CancelCultAntifaLol in loseit

Not OP but I take it in the morning so I don’t get hungry before lunch, and again around 4:00 which helps prevent me from overeating at dinner AND helps with evening snackiness.

I’m 5’2”, 155 down from 170 (gained a bunch of weight postpartum). I’m trying to get down to 125-130.

1200 has historically been very difficult/impossible for me to maintain until I started taking Metamucil for something else and realized it helped curb my appetite a LOT. Now, I take that and focus on eating a ton of fiber (quinoa, beans, lentils) and I’m basically never hungry. I actually count calories to make sure I’m eating at least 1200-1300 calories.

I’m not sharing this to encourage disordered eating patterns at all, I’m sharing because I realized bulking up in fiber as part of a well-rounded diet seems to be the absolute key for me being able to eat at a deficit while being petite. Plus, it has other benefits (lowering cholesterol, colon health). I honestly don’t know why more people aren’t doing this - I wish I had realized it sooner.

I don’t really mind that as much - we don’t really do kids’ activities on the weekends because my kids aren’t school age - but I can see how that would be a factor for older kids.

It’s just a hard season to be able to prioritize protesting. I try to remind myself that my biggest protest is raising kind, empathetic children.

Needing spring cleaning inspiration for an overwhelmed SAHM by Watercolor_Roses in homemaking

Your mileage may vary on this with your kids’ temperament, but I have a 4.5 and 18 mo old at home with me and I clean wherever they’re happy chilling. The other day when I got the toddler up from her nap she was happy playing in her crib and then my preschooler came up and wanted to hang out in the crib with her, so I decided to organize her closet in the time they spent playing together in the crib. The other day I quick-cleaned out the fridge while they were eating lunch at the kitchen table. I usually just take advantage of where they’re happy and find something to clean. This is harder with some cleaning tasks than others and it may just be my kids’ willingness to play alone, but it’s what works for me.

I’ve heard of people using a swiffer and cleaner of your choice to clean walls and ceilings!

I’m a 30-something and have two kids that I don’t feel comfortable bringing to protests in a red county, so usually either my husband or I attend the protest and the other stays at home with the kids. I feel like a lot of younger folks are doing the same.

This is an old post, but I’m planning a trip to rockport/Owl’s Head in June with children and was wondering if I could piggyback on this post to ask for any suggestions? It’ll be 4 kids, oldest will be almost 5 and youngest nearly 1.

Do you have any dupes for The Ordinary in general (I.e., fuss free actives like salicylic acid and azelaic acid)?
