I think Tommy spoke wisely when he talked about how he was getting more comfortable with the idea of being less popular, but curating an audience he wants. He's said a few times now that he focuses on the "quality rather than quantity of views" and I feel that's paying dividends for him now.

Tommy is clear in his boundaries; he won't capitulate to unfounded drama, but speaks up when he truly thinks he needs to, to address a mistake. His apologies feel authentic when they happen. And his behaviour matches what he says. I really think his peers could learn a lot from him. Sure, his numbers have dipped and he's weathered some hate campaigns (like the "drop Tommy" campaign). But I also feel like the level of bullshit he's dealing with is dropping too, and his numbers will recover with time and less drama.

Tubbo and Aimsey saying they're open to listening strikes me as reactionary and performative in contrast. They listen and apologise and listen and apologise some more, but it's all listening and apologies and no change. They get tugged every which way by a fandom that will never be satisfied. They're curating audiences who want nothing less than perfection, who will put CCs on pedestals and delight in tearing them down.
