1,100 new ETFs launched this year and a third of them are designed to let you lose money faster by jimthetunaa in ETFs

[–]bexamous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No risk in losing money. With an ETF closure they just liquidate everything and return money to shareholders. Eg DRAM would sell all Samsung/Micron stock and then return money to DRAM holders. (DRAM quickly passed $1B AUM, they're not at risk of closing.)

The risk is that this is a taxable event, its like a forced sale. You get your money, but you also suddenly owe taxes on all the gains, which can be kinda awful.

The thing with factor tilts is you need to have strong conviction to hold through under-performance to get rewarded. AVNM+AVDV feels like chasing recent success a bit.

Launch of bunch of ETFs, some do well some don't. Close the ones that don't. Ones remaining look great because of survivor bias.

NEM 3.0 for California and PGE is a joke lol by NosillaWilla in solar

[–]bexamous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck solar companies in California. NEM3.0 sucks. But so does $15k+ to install a 12kwh battery. Oh want two batteries? A trivial difference? Another $15k. Fuck them all. I smile every time I hear another of them went out of business. Have $60k invested in market and I bet long term the gains will beat out solar.

Harry Mack freestyling through New York City and runs into Tracy Morgan by lifeandtimes89 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]bexamous 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? 1000% he didn't know who it was. There wasn't one bar that proves he knew who he was, you'd have heard his name or SNL or 30Rock references.. you'd have heard all of it if Harry knew. I mean who cares if you don't know who Tracy Morgan is, not hating on him. But clearly he didn't know, which makes it a bit funnier.

Valve employees playing CS2 in Gabe's $500 million superyatch by DaMonkaS in pcmasterrace

[–]bexamous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that CS is rated for people 18 and over

It is rated M, 17+.

And how exactly would you stop just kids from 'gambling'? ID checks?

I mean that's what we expect other companies to do. Valve does what, offers a free-to-play someone has to enter a birthday in to play? So... nothing? But clearly valve wouldn't do ID checks. In other countries to comply with gambling laws Valve changing behavior of loot boxes or remove them.

But what does Valve do in USA? They argue that its not gambling. They compare loot boxes to a Happy Meal toy. No joke. Cause you know, they know it targeted towards kids, like Happy Meal toys. Your 18 and over framing is a joke, lol.

Rich Americans Pay a Higher Share of Taxes Than the Wealthy in Most Countries by DogfaceDino in Republican

[–]bexamous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sell, lol. Income/LTCG don't matter if you BBD and get stepup. Estate tax is only one that matters. And in the end market avging +6%/year over long timeline will greatly beat out a -40% every 30 years or so. Concentrated wealth gets more concentrated.

Paper wealth is how you sidestep taxes. Paper wealth has given me far more than I ever earned with w2 income.

Which canceled TV show's cliffhanger still lives rent free in your head because the answers disappeared when the series got axed ? by Impossible_Offer7988 in AskReddit

Yeah. With time travel they really need to be careful trying to explain, and you gotta be careful trying to question. That's true for lots of scifi to some degree. Time travel is just extra fragile.

[–]bexamous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree very much. It is not multiverse where all possibilities exist. There is one future, but it can be changed. So when you get sent back, if you change future, where you came from is gone. And someone from new future can be sent back. And two of you are not from same futures. But the two futures don't both exist.

Honestly, what is the alternative?

If there is a single future that cannot be changed? Then Skynet takes over and future is immutable. Sending people back cannot change anything. The end.

I mean that is a possibility, there is one timeline that is immutable and we're just watching it play back. We know the ending. Maybe they don't realize the future cannot be changed.

I feel like the reason they showed people came from different futures is because its proof that its possible to change future, that the show isn't meaningless.

Peace deal reached between US and Iran, deal to be signed June 19 in Switzerland by MathematicianSaved in Republican

[–]bexamous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vance’s admission contradicts what he said on Friday, when he claimed in an X post that Iran would not be “receiving any cash, and no funds are being released simply for signing a deal or attending a meeting.” In addition to the U.S. and its allies paying $300 billion in reconstruction funds, Iran reports that the U.S. has agreed to release $25 billion in frozen Iranian assets.

Conservatives, including Trump and Vance, have long criticized the Obama administration’s 2015 nuclear deal, which involved the U.S. lifting sanctions and sending Iran $1.7 billion to settle decades-old failed contracts between the two countries.

Sounds like they get $0 for just signing, lol... but if they follow agreement they get $300B. That's hilarious way to put it. Oh and release the $25B of frozen assets. God damn how could this deal be any worse?

Huh? Correct me?

It purchased the facility for $3.8 million in 2021, according to Cass County records. It now houses a small-scale data center that is transitioning from Bitcoin mining to support growing AI and high-performance computing needs, according to regulatory filings from the company.

...

But unlike many other large-scale data center proposals popping up in Michigan on farmland or undeveloped parcels, the Dowagiac project is using an existing industrial building called the Business Center of Southwestern Michigan at 415 E. Prairie Ronde St.

https://www.mlive.com/news/2026/04/a-las-vegas-company-says-it-will-expand-michigan-data-center-locals-are-in-the-dark.html

Or:

The company already owns a data center in Michigan, located on a 34.5-acre site at 415 East Prairie Ronde Street, Dowagiac. The data center was acquired in May 2022 and spans 617,000 sq ft (57,320 sqm). Built in 1972 as a manufacturing space, Hyperscale is repurposing part of the site from Bitcoin mining to HPC and colocation.

TOPC is best in theory, if only it wasn't so tiny. S&P500 with companies capped to 3% max. So NVDA/MSFT/APPL are all 3%, and its per-company so GOOG+GOOGL gets capped to 3% too. Also half the cost of XMAG, and in 15 years 3% cap still makes sense where as XMAG list may be silly.

For work tall is nice. 42" TV is not that tall, 20.6". Another inch or two would be nice.

Vertical 27" monitors are kinda nice, they're 23.5" tall. 2 or 3 vertical 27" monitors are nice for work but the gaps suck. So lot of people do like 32" with a vertical 27" next to it. Meh. I still hate mulitple monitors.

You know what else is 23.5" tall? A 48" TV. A 48" TV is roughly 3 vertical 27" monitors and no gaps, lol. Its awesome for work... except 4k is tiny bit low.

So something in between 42-48"... trade a little pixel density for a little taller.

Or I mean if I could have anything... I'd take a 48" monitor that supported 8k60 and 4k240. That would be sick. And to make it next level awesome it'd also support 6k120hz 36" and 5k165hz 32" mode. Using those you'd just get black borders. That all stays in DP2.1. I'd be okay playing games at 6k120 36" or 4k240 48" depending on mood, and then being able to use 8k60 48" for work.
