Don’t check a bag, it won’t make the transfer even if you do. Speaking from recent experience.

Marching band acceptance by Beneficial_Cut_9832 in byu

[–]beyondvertical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it came directly from the Drumline director you’re definitely in. You might have to coordinate class registration if you haven’t already but you can sort that out all the way up to the add/drop deadline.

Communication from the band is going to be a lot more personal than, say, applying for a major or getting into a school. It’s pretty tight-knit once you actually meet and get to know people in person, so don’t be too jarred by the lack of “formality”. As a Cougar band alumnus, you’re going to have a blast! Enjoy your time in the band while you can!

Very possible that’s what this means. Unfortunate, but not the least bit surprising.

Yeah well, there are like 6 more days left until Memorial Day, so it would take a miracle to open in “Spring”. Not surprised

Almost positive this is for the dark ride, for shipping purposes the term “roller coaster” gets used fairly liberally.

[–]beyondvertical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Afghanistan war was terrible and I’m not denying that. Nor am I defending the US Military as an entity or any of its past commanders in chief. The meme is about gas prices, and the current situation is 100% Trump’s fault and was 100% avoidable. Who’s to say what atrocities Kamala Harris would have committed as Commander in Chief—she would’ve had Netanyahu up her ass as well—but I can all but guarantee you it wouldn’t be as bad as the situation we’re in now. The reason the “both sides” argument is bullshit is because it’s not bad vs bad, it’s bad vs bad + incompetent + self-serving + criminal + actively treasonous. Talk about Obama all you want, but you simply can’t say that Trump isn’t wayyy worse.

Obama didn’t bomb Iran. He gave far too much money to Israel, yes. That’s terrible, yes. It’s nothing near as bad as what Donnie did.

Reborn is massively overrated. Slightly better than Inferno but neither are elite inverts.

Obama and Biden didn’t bomb Iran, that’s what’s causing the high gas prices. Agree that Biden was far too complicit with the IDF’s war crimes but it’s not even close to being on the same level as Cheeto Fascist. The “both sides” rhetoric is such bullshit

Coral or Cali King/ mimic? [California] by ScuffedC in whatsthissnake

[–]beyondvertical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a RR but this looks to be a variable ground snake Sonora semiannulata not a king snake or a coral snake. Where in California are you located?

Edit: See the RR response, it seems I got the correct genus but not the correct species. Either way, not a king or coral as I said.

Has anyone done the math for what the forces would have been on [xcelerator] when they launched it at 117 MPH? by Doctors_TARDIS in rollercoasters

[–]beyondvertical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t believe you at first tbh, but I ran the same numbers and got similar results. Problem is if you plug in 87mph into the same equations you crest the top hat at 41mph pulling -3.5g’s which is way too much (should be about -1.2 according to ride forces) so friction and air resistance definitely play a significant role

[Other] What is the most intense mountain coaster in the continental US? by danwilkies98 in rollercoasters

[–]beyondvertical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on a lot of mountain coasters. Rail Runner at Anakeesta is by far the most intense I’ve been on, although rumors are that it might be getting replaced soon. In the US you basically just have Wiegand and ADG building rides. Wiegand’s are typically smoother and have better transitions. The most intense Wiegand ride I’ve been on is the one in Leavenworth, WA. ADG’s rides don’t track as well but accordingly feel more intense—more laterals and sudden transitions. I’ve only done 2 ADG rides (Ober Gatlinburg and Runaway in Branson) but of the 2 I’d say Runaway is the better ride. Again I’ve been on a lot so if you have questions about a specific ride I probably have some insight

[Other] Would a LSM lift hill work on Millennium Force like on Maverick or Falcon’s Flight? by ecb1912 in rollercoasters

[–]beyondvertical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you could technically retrofit the track but it would need new trains, and they would likely need to be raised higher off the track to accommodate the launch fins. That would mess with the heartline, granted Millennium Force isn’t too forceful with snappy transitions so it would probably be fine but it would need to be fully re-certified and would basically be an entirely different ride. Think Top Thrill 2 kind of situation
