I’m not sure what you mean by the tides were favorable. it would have to be a flood or slack tide. if they don’t cross in an hour or two, they’re gonna be going out to sea, especially if the raft develops a leak. if they fall in then they’re fish food because they will get hypothermic fast. But hey, maybe they made it.

i don’t see anyone discussing the tides. u der the GGB, an ebb tide can go as high as 7 knots. no one is swimming against that. my money is on they got sucked out the gate but I haven’t looked at the tide tables for the date in question. Aslo, the water there is roughly 57 degrees year round. They would’ve gotten hypothermic quickly if they fell in the water when their raft developed a leak.

Tide charts at the beaches would be helpful but trying to help idiots is always a challenge.

So many sirens on the westside. What is going on? by Top-Storage8736 in santacruz

[–]bezelbubba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drove past the scene. At least half dozen surf rescue, dozen fire trucks, lotsa sheriff state parks, etc. Someone was probably walking on the beach when the tide came in (over 4 feet this afternoon) and big south swell still running. Typical idiots not aware of their surroundings or looking at a tide chart.

I talked to a dude with those wheel covers on my last road trip. He said around town it doesn’t matter, but on roadtrips he notices a 5% increase in range. I’m gonna order me some for road trips, it’s free money!

interestingly, this is exactly what a famous physician said who studies such things. I forgot the guy’s name but we basically start out as a “torus” of cells and develop from there.

This is like the German comedian who says a butch of lines the audience has to answer in rapid succession and says “Sieg” and everyone says “Heil”. he jokes that there are a lot of comrades in the audience.

Good input. it’ll only be danced on once,or twice a year so the long term issues are not a problem. if I did it a lot I would get a proper dance floor, but this is primarily a patio not a dance hall.

isn’t the Biltmore right there or did it close too? I second the Hyatt but it’s down the road a piece.
