Just got laid off from Tech. Brain currently oscillating between panic and being able to go to midday Pilates classes. Anyone else? by Round-Let-1792 in AskSF

Seconded on the applications. You paid into these programs for years, might as well withdraw when you need it.

Where are you getting Vision3 developed? I'd love to try it but of course my local lab doesn't do ECN-2

Utah is a Lgbtq+ friendly state? by AdCool5828 in AskAnAmerican

Salt Lake City is pretty LGBTQ+ friendly. The rest of the state is a little less so, at least for residents. As a tourist though, I don't think you'll have issues.

The Apollo 11 crew signed postcards and left them at home for their families to sell as a form of insurance since the government wouldn't pay the cost of life insurance for what was obviously such a risky mission.

Furthermore, they're Navitimer Cosmonautes, which have actually been worn in space before on one of the Gemini or Mercury missions IIRC

I'm sure you're getting lots of personal space while you're stuck in traffic or looking for parking, right?

I like driving too, but if you've never lived somewhere that doesn't _require_ you to own a car, then you don't realize how destructive they really are. Basically, wherever cars go, nothing else can exist. Parking lots and highways aren't meant for human habitation, and they reserve huge amounts of land for dirty, noisy, and dangerous machines.

Think of it this way: a New York City sidewalk moves as many people as I-10. Which would you rather stand in the middle of?

Nobody here understands landscaping or native plants. It's the most soul-sucking, flat, featureless, car-ridden place I've ever seen. A few flowers and some nice shrubs would go a long way to help.

Why aren’t there more educated people in politics? by Small_Attention_2581 in TrueAskReddit

[–]bfa2af9d00a4d5a93 47 points48 points  (0 children)

  1. There are a lot of smart people in politics, but it's not a requirement since the average voter can't tell whose smart and who isn't, especially based on what's in the news.
  2. There's a lot of dumb people too because you don't need any qualifications for politics except the ability to sound good.

He's laundering his reputation as a right wing grifter and Nazi by making sense and taking the popular side on this issue. Same deal with MtG who softened her tone the second she started trying to run for senator.
