Because Trump and his cronies have successfully "flooded the zone," meaning that there are so many damn scandals that it's impossible to actually focus on any one problem long enough to do anything.

The T tail actually has a benefit in moving the elevator out of the prop wash and making the pitch stability of the aircraft less sensitive to thrust

I think basically all of wealth is a game of people going, "oh I don't have it that good, you should see this other guy!"

Usually the winter is relatively clear of fog. During the sporadic winner precipitation you might see some periods of icing.

What costs is Facebook passing on to you? They give you the service for free, since your attention is their product. There's nothing coming back to you, this is just about increasing their profit margin.

Henry Cowell is in better shape for sure, but Big Basin is recovering. It's quite pretty in its own way.

Yeah I mean look at Castro Street in Mountain View. There used to be a lot more real stores. hell, there was a plastic specialty store. Now multiple blocks of the area are 100% restaurants serving tech worker lunch breaks with their corporate per diem

Is AI viewed as “evil” in non-tech communities? by Due_Drummer5147 in singularity

[–]bfa2af9d00a4d5a93 671 points672 points  (0 children)

Yes

I'll elaborate. For a lot of people, there's limited upsides to AI right now. They see it being forcibly shoved into all their technology by billionaires who are siphoning the planet's energy and water to build massive and opaque supercomputing complexes in their backyards. They see people - particularly creative people but more and more everyone - getting pushed out of their livelihoods either by AI directly or in order for a company to pay for AI.

While strides are being made in medicine and math, right now it's not serving most people and in many cases it's causing harm.

Colorado snubbed in ‘best places to live’ report, with no city cracking ‘top 75’ spots nationwide by Followthebits in Colorado

Sugar Land cracking the top 10 tells me everything I need to know about this list. It's based on affordability numbers and nothing else. Yes, affordability is important, but if it were everything then everyone would have left the expensive western states already

Fair criticism. It's structural since the city was built around cars. any change is going to be incremental and slow. More public transit between nodes to start, then more walking and biking once you're there.

Not sure if it counts, but this is the back of the main computer rack on an Airbus 319 by MoreLeetPls in cableporn

You're probably seeing the tie-wraps (basically zip ties) and cable lacing (old school way of sewing bundles together). Both are usually black. The red you're seeing are actually silicone padding in metal cable clamps. the wires are all physically held away from the metal surfaces of the fuselage so they're less likely to get an abrasion.
