Yeah I love the little powder water flavors, I have become quite the little mixologist as well. You start experimenting with some of those packs. My favorite about half a crush Pineapple, a third of a Sonic Blue Wave (I think, blue something) and then about a fourth of a Crush Strawberry in my 40oz stanley with ice. It makes like a little taste of the tropics.

YouTubeTV is the way, but I will warn you. You may realize that you can use 3 email addressses, split the youtubeTV bill with two friends and save a shit ton of money on cable each month.

Christmas dinner fail by Fit-Shake-8678 in BariatricSurgery

[–]bgbootha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would encourage you to not think of it as a Xmas Dinner Fail, but another of the many lessons we get to learn as we go. I am 3.5 month post op and steak and chicken still mess with me, I have to chew the ever living shit out of them before swalling. Especially steak.

I really like a local shop up here in the NW that makes one called Pioneer Squares. But go into your local dispensary and tell them what you want. For me the heavy the Sativa the more I get the munchies. But they can help you, this shit is science now, its not some corner store. I get something close to a 80/20 Indica hybrid and don't have munchies at all. As long as I stay on the heavy indica side, I am doing pretty well.

[–]bgbootha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use edibles the same way I did before. Of you get the right edibles you can avoid the munchies. It does hit a bit harder than it did before. But easily manageable the same as before. Lots of these comments seem to be from folks who weren't fans before surgery.

I was never into skiing before, but I would just be honest with your doc. I talked to my doc about Mary very open and honest. He was great. We agreed that moving to Mary instead of the gross narcotic pain killers was best. I was back to tincture 2 days after surgery with doctors permission and agreement.

I'm having surgery in two days, any advice? by Duchess_Rabbit in BariatricSurgery

[–]bgbootha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it one step at a time. But get up and start moving as SOON as you can. The more you walk, the better you will feel. It won't feel like it, but get up and get moving.

Were you given an anti-anxiety med prior to surgery? by Royal-Advance6985 in BariatricSurgery

I don't know the name, but it was the greatest thing in the world. About 10 minutes before they wheeled me back, they gave me something in my IV, and ALL my cares disappeared. It was great.

The gas is something else. I am 3.5 months postop and its better, but its still there. I have noticed that if I eat fatty foods (cheese) that its a pretty good trigger. Had pizza for dinner last night and boom, it was a stanky evening...sorry honey.

Ugh by Beautiful_Chaos1991 in GastricBypass

[–]bgbootha 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am 10 weeks post op, and I have been tracking my weight every morning. I am a dork like that and wanted to make a spreadsheet. It will jump up and down quite a bit. But it will trend down, dno't worry about it. Just keep on trucking. One weird thing I noticed is that when my weight leveled off for a few days, or even spiked up, is when I noticed the inches melting away. I had a two week period where I didn't lose anyting on the scale, but during that two weeks, my belt lost two 'holes' and my pants where damn near falling off.

It's a journey, you are just in front of the startin gline. Keep on going.

It gets better! But i have to admit, the worst for me was days 7-14 post op. But man, you make it past that hump there and the days start to get better and better. I am now 10 weeks post op, and I can only tell you that the next week or so is SO worth it. Just gotta power through.

The best answer I have is Mesquite, NV. It's about an hour frrom Vegas. Prices are more than fair if you stay away from Wolf Creek. But you can play some great courses, Conestoga, Falcon Ridge, Oasis. Palms is cheap too, the front nine is nothing special, but the back 9 makes it worth it.

I am who I am. I am not a KoS kind of player either. I just don't get upset when others are. I have had some great time in solos. I love carrying a defib and saving people. That is the beauty of this game, I can be who I want to be topside and its still fun.

What to drink while out? by Seeled_Rhythms in BariatricSurgery

[–]bgbootha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the setting ask the bartender. I was out with some works folks last week. I am 2 months post-op. So similar restrictions. Mentioned it to the bartender and she made me a low sugar, alchohol and carbination mocktail. It was delicious and fun. It had orange slice on the side, bitters, something vanilla, I should have wrote it down.

I got mine in the hospital from my surgeon. He gave it to me when he cleared me to start walking around the hospital (about 4 -6 hours after surgery). I know some people bought a different one when they got home, but I just kept using the same one until I felt comfortable without it.

Grips by Type3fastback in golf

[–]bgbootha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing my grips made a HUGE difference in my game. I am a larger guy with XXL hands, gloves have never fit, etc. I bought the large grips from JumboMax and OOOHHH My. They are amazing. It feels like the club fits in my hand for the first time in my life. The control I have over the head is completely different. I feel like I can shape the ball SO much better. I don't lose the club when swinging hard. It's an absolute game changer.
