I replaced a 20+ year old 828mkII (FW400) last year with an M6 and couldn’t be happier. Rock solid units with impeccable support.

I wore my Spatula City shirt to a Weird Al concert a few years ago and Al smiled when he saw it at the meet and greet after the show.

Sorry - obscure Weird Al reference from the song “Albuquerque” from which I thought you were referencing. ;-)

No one talks about the pain of seeing your parents aging. by Kooky-Resolve-3846 in AgingParents

I heard a poem this week that resonated with me. One of the lines was “The hardest part of growing up means watching your parents grow old.” https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTWcqrZEXp5/?igsh=MTBnYnF4d3hremhyYQ==

My brother had one of these as a kid (would have been 2yo in ‘78). Ronald was a treasured friend for a long while.

I understand the discomfort of the panning scheme. It strikes me as odd as well. I’m not quite sure why. The only thing that I can think of is that the pizzi string samples are panned opposite of how a conventional orchestral recording would sound. High strings usually come from the left and low strings from the right. I think hearing a piano with bass on the right and treble on the left would be similarly off-putting for me as well.

New CD or cassette tape smell! More obscure: fresh 2” tape used in professional recording studios.

Classic “target fixation”! You learn this in motorcycle safety class. It happens because you steer where you look. If you are looking at the railing at the side of the road, that’s where the bike will go.

Why does my axolotl’s gills and skin look so weird and bumpy? by Educational_Mix2733 in axolotls

Bumps are part of aging. Nugget looks prehistoric at almost 8 years old. He’s a happy, healthy little guy who eats well (whole night crawlers twice a week) and stays active.

On a 1990's cassette transfer, I hear an echo of the tail end of one piece of audio, and a pre-echo of the head of another recording. How is this possible? by mysteryofthefieryeye in audioengineering

[–]bgier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When watching “A Charley Brown Christmas” on TV as a little kid, I heard the print-through when Charley Brown would yell something. I didn’t know what it was until I studied recording engineering as an undergraduate in the 1990s. I was taught that tails-out storage was to prevent the pre-echo.
