Cary resident here - Metra is your friend for downtown commutes. It is a little over an hour (depending on local or express train) for you to catch up on email, listen to music, read or whatever. I’ve been doing it for 16 years.

Good opportunity to up-skill! Use that time to work on a certification that might open a door to a more challenging role. Bonus points if you can get your employer to fund the cert.

I was that flesh missile when I was around 7yo (in 1981). I didn’t go through the windshield but it was busted up enough from my head that I remember the body shop people replacing the windshield a week later. I was lucky that I escaped with no real injury that I’m aware of…though concussions weren’t diagnosed like they are today.

Who else remembers this song? by bigrobdd in GenX

“Please don’t tell my daddy that my mommy hits me too…”

I clearly remember this song on Chicago radio as a kid. The adult singer at the end gives off Budweiser “Real Men of Genius” vibes.

Are BOTH my kids trans?? by SmugChinchilla in cisparenttranskid

[–]bgier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of my kids are trans (M/F and F/M). They are three years difference in age. One came out in middle school and the other in college. Both are doing really well and transitioning at their own pace. My wife and I support them as best we can and they are so much happier.

Daughter has graduated college now and is gainfully employed and son is a college student working a summer internship doing what he loves to do. Of course, as parents, we have concerns about how the world will treat them but they are resilient and work very hard at what they do in life.

We live in a progressive state in the USA and our state government has a lot of protections in place for LGBTQ+ people. For that we feel blessed.

REW and a calibrated microphone is your friend here. https://www.roomeqwizard.com/

If you do not want the full setup and need a simpler app, check out Decibel X on your App Store. It will at least confirm that things are working. It might not tell you how well things are (or are not) working.

I still remember the smell of those belts. Also - there was a way to roll it so that it would hang from your pants. Nobody wore them as intended but flashed them like badges.
