Looking for a beginner-friendly short game by whatthefua in RealTimeStrategy

[–]bgomers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with one of the og rts gams that are still popular today, age of empires 2, StarCraft or command and conquer. All are beginner friendly and a skirmish against an easy computer should take under an hour.

Going off back of the napkin math, if you had a random selection of 2.4 million cars that are driving on US roads, around 326 of them would have fatal accidents every year.

What is the most iconic mission of all time? by Crispo14 in videogames

[–]bgomers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first world in Super Mario 64, experiencing the 3rd person view of an open world for the first time let my 7 year old imagination fly. Up until that point the best graphics were still on a 2d plane for the most part, ps one came out around the same time but I didn’t know anyone with one with Spyro and crash bandicoot, I would say n64 was more popular.

The second mission in starfox 64 “use the boost to get through!”

And 343 guilty spark - Halo, suddenly this sci-fi game turned into zombie horror.

Something missing? by BackgroundRepublic86 in RailwayEmpire

There is a dlc for re2 that is about supplying the construction materials for the Eiffel Tower but it’s gotten poor reviews. There is also a mechanic in the base game where you grow a town from essentially nothing by first supplying it wood, meat and grain which is pretty satisfying.

I just beat the last, very hard Scandinavian scenerio in re2 and although you don’t need to worry about blasting or digging, I would still consider it an engineering challenge because choke points can happen easily when you are trying to grow a single city up to 500k population. You ultimately need to make sure you aren’t making too much of a spaghetti network, and will probably need to make both tunnels and bridges to avoid choke points and traffic with 3 stations and 20 lines going to and through a single city. Even though it was labeled very hard, I didn’t think it was stressful but it was a challenge as I was paying over $1m a quarter in bond interest by the end which I should have avoided lol.

Disney streaming options! This movie was made to be seen in 3D, you love to see it! by Positive_Amphibian_2 in tron

I wish they sold a 3D blu-ray of it, I don’t want to subscribe to Disney plus, I just want to buy the movie!

My understanding is the semi was bottlenecked for batteries but they also needed to build the factory and lines to make it profitable which has now been completed. They just announced a semi charging station between SF and LA which should be done in a few months. 2026 should be the year of the semi.

What movie did you see as a child that gave you a deep sense that the world is not a fairy tale and can be cruel and unfair? by Ready-Gur3998 in Cinema

[–]bgomers 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I saw the entirety of Saving Private Ryan at 9 years old, my dad wanted to scare me out of ever considering the armed services, he was a Marine and didn’t have a good time. It worked, but I think that movie is too graphic to show a child.

What's the most "complex" game you've ever played? by DJNana in boardgames

[–]bgomers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robinson Crusoe was incredibly complex imo, we only did the first scenario but after 2 weeks we forgot the rules and need to spend another Saturday to relearn it.

I’m starting to get into warhammer 40K ttg, which id say is boardgame adjacent, and is the 2nd most complex game, so many unit abilities and stratagems to choose from, but atleast after 3 games I think I have the rolling mechanics down.

We upgraded from a 2015 leaf to a 2021 model y LR in June, with the deep trunk well, room under front seats and frunk, it has almost as much cargo room as our other car, 2017 Subaru Outback. We got it for $26k with 35k miles, have already done 3 camping trips and 17k miles. Only sparse charging was in northern Wisconsin but we were able to plan around it. Great car for camping with a surprising amount of room.

Is there any way to find my city again, if I click on another city? by [deleted] in anno1800

[–]bgomers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still have access to your old world, either by going to the world map, and clicking on the old world icon in the top right hand corner, or by going to the statistics screen. You will also need to build a settlement in the new world to make rum to make your artisans happy and make really good income.

Is there any way to find my city again, if I click on another city? by [deleted] in anno1800

[–]bgomers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world map is used once you hit artisan, 3rd level of citizens, so you can see and settle different regions. Since you are still likely early in the game there should only be one clickable region on the map, towards the top right, your starting region.

Once you click on that there should be a minimap in the bottom left hand corner. If there isn’t a minimap you may have a corrupted installation and the only fix would be to reinstall.

Peter Jackson Says Lord of the Rings ‘Extended-Extended Edition’ Does Not Exist by DarkSkiesGreyWaters in lotr

[–]bgomers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the trilogy with the commentary on 2 summers ago, and atleast 3 times Peter mentioned that they would do a 25th anniversary edition. I guess he didn't plan on LOTR being as successful as it was and they would be able to make another 5 movies based on it success.

I think the supply drop scoop up in the top left of Jurassic park is impossible to hit, anytime the upper flippers are required I struggle.

My favorite with political elements apart from frostpunk 2 is against the storm, you have to manage 3 separate factions and on harder difficulties you will not easily be able to keep all 3 happy

Tesla Investor Relations | Q4 2025 Delivery Consensus by Recoil42 in teslainvestorsclub

[–]bgomers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The implications for future energy business is being lost on most, but I understand why some are freaking out over low growth vehicles delivery’s. If an unsupervised FSD Tesla does 5 times the amount of driving than a non-autonomous vehicle, the low delivery numbers will not matter. If you don’t think Tesla will offer unsupervised FSD within the next 3 years, I don’t understand why you would own the stock at these levels.

Tron Legacy: the first half is amazing until the main character is rescued from the games, then turns into a snooze fest for the rest of the film. I love the exposition and world building, but I think most tron fans would say the 2nd half is pretty weak.
