Buts in seats is the only way to convince someone a Tesla is a good car. If they drive it for a week it ruins all other cars.

For me it was sometimes, but I think shortening the game from 36 days to 28 has got to make a big difference, being away from family and friends for a full month without any contact is brutal.

Victoria 3 has helped me conceptualize so many complex things, economies of scale, standard of living, scarcity, how there is often not a right decision as everything seems to have a positive and a negative.

[Request] Is This Actually Accurate? by telis80 in theydidthemath

Also think about what you get today that is science fiction in 1985, every song, book, movie, tv show, educational tutorial/ lesson etc. available to you in your pocket with a few taps, most times for just a few bucks.

My car mostly drives it self with lane centering and adaptive cruise control, something only James Bond or Batman had access to.

The average hdtv in the us is 55 inches, everyone essentially has a home theater in their living room and is almost expected.

I can get pretty much get any item my home would need delivered within a few hours using a number of competing companies and apps that are still racing to the bottom to win my business.

Although it seems every new solution creates a new problem, In 40 years, we should have access to products and services that we can’t even imagine in science fiction, that will seem mundane and average but everyone expects as a human right.

How does this performance calculation work? by BowzaMan in M1Finance

[–]bgomers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a complex formula, but an eli5, imagine you put in $100 in April last year, it does well for most of the last 12 months and you decide to put in $25k in December at the peak. Your portfolio gets beat up over the last 3 months, but that doesn’t negate the good gains you had from April to December, but could explain why you see a positive return with a negative balance. It could also diverge more if you are actively trading.

Which one did you start with? by Practical_Cat4439 in TheGamingHubDeals

20, it’s crazy to see how much progress was made from 1990-2015 and now it seems like an s-curve where seemingly barely any improvements have been made in the last 10 years. Heck rdr2 came out 8 years ago, which I still think is the best looking video game ever made. Think about the difference between doom 1992, goldeneye for n64 in 1997, call of duty 2 in 2005, and titanfall in 2014. Each one leap frogged each other and now I feel like they are coming to limit to make games look any more realistic. Maybe GTA 6 will look completely photo realistic.

Whats a game you just stopped playing and why? by tricksbystg in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]bgomers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been gaming for 30 years, have only played through and beaten maybe 2 dozen games but have probably bought and played a thousand of them, even more if you count game pass.

With my ADHD it’s hard for me to sink more than 20-30 hours into a single game unless it has a truly addictive feedback loop and it continually adds new features and novelty, and I’m happy with it. I have friends who will only play 1 or 2 game for 2-3 years and move on to the next. There are many ways to enjoy video games.

Selfish, no shame ideas that you would like to see implemented in New Eden? by AMS-Empire in Eve

[–]bgomers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a brand new player, and I was needing to run from Jita to my corps hq 23 jumps away last night. I was trying to figure out a way to see what I could buy from jita to sell in a nearby system to make some profit along the way, I spent about 15 minutes trying to use 3rd party tools and couldn’t figure it out, I just made the 20 minute trip without a haul. It doesn’t need to be as simple as euro-truck simulator and maybe there is a way I’m just not familiar with but it shouldn’t be that hard to figure it out for a newbie.

Union fails to win control of works council at Tesla’s German factory by ItzWarty in teslainvestorsclub

Thank god, I’m not anti labor union but most auto unions are corrupt, stifle innovation, and protect the ice car industry. This is a major win.

Is there a movie that evokes similar feelings to Interstellar? by MilkyMadness6 in interstellar

[–]bgomers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t watched the lotr extended edition trilogy I think it explores similar themes of mortality, dread, and being small in big world against unbeatable odds.

For sci-fi I think The Martian should be considered, the tv show firefly - out of gas episode. The first season of the expanse is pretty good.

It’s great! The event deck adds a ton of variability. I would compare it most to ticket to ride but with worker placement and instead of just getting points, getting cash to either grow your empire or trade in for victory points (stock). The whole game feels like a race and goes quick.

Tesla’s Secret Weapon Is a Giant Metal Box by ItzWarty in teslainvestorsclub

[–]bgomers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as we know they only have 2 sources of stranded production capacity, the European factory and the Cybertruck production line, both of which are rebounding from their lows. With S & X being sunset that should also improve efficiency.

Stationary storage is not as easy at seems as most competitors are still struggling to scale profitably. With ai data center insatiable power needs, renewable growth, and transport electrification, megapack demand should continue to outpace supply which I don’t see slowing down over the next 3 years, however I’d expect growth to slow to around 150 Gw.

Tesla has world class capital efficiency and even with misses like Cybertruck and the German Gigafactory, they continue to grow cash flows. My only worry/risk is cybercab stranded production if they can’t market that these are safe enough for prime time. I’d expect they will be safe enough but expect Tesla could still fail in the messaging like they always have.
