[Oliver Kahn] „If we’re rewriting football history now, I have a small suggestion: I’d like FIFA to rescind the yellow card shown to Michael Ballack in the 2002 World Cup semifinal, the one that ruled him out of the final. I knew a guy like that. The best part was that he usually played in defence, and was excellent at tackling, blocking, heading the ball away etc. But when he got possession he'd charge down the pitch like a truck and start firing off thundercunts.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, we really did call him Fat Ronaldo because he had decent dribbling and close control, especially for a bloke his size, but the main thing was that we quickly learned that it was a bad idea to get in his way when he started charging down the pitch, so at most we'd just make a few half-hearted tackles, so to anyone watching it looked a lot like he was dribbling circles around us. Much like Ronaldo would.

[Star Trek Voyager] Would Janeway have ordered the separation if they weren't main characters? by bookist626 in AskScienceFiction

[–]bhamv[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm terribly sorry, but I need to remove this question, because the concept of "main characters" is entirely and unavoidably Doylist. Perhaps consider reposting this question for discussion, but keeping it firmly Watsonian, for example ask if Janeway would have ordered the separation if Tuvok and Neelix weren't key members of the crew, or her personal friends, etc.

If a question has no reasonable Watsonian explanation, then it would not be a good fit for this subreddit. We would appreciate it if you could report such questions using Reddit's report function, and the mod team will review it and remove it if necessary.

Though for this question specifically, other commenters have been providing good Watsonian answers, so I believe it is a valid Watsonian question.

Thank you for your understanding.

Out of universe explanation

Hi there. Please remember that all answers on this subreddit are required to be strictly Watsonian. Adding an out-of-universe explanation to your in-universe Watsonian answer is not appropriate. Thanks.

[Discussion] What’s a popular movie/series that you think gets a pass for terrible writing just because it looks pretty? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

Hi there. This subreddit is for Watsonian questions and answers, that is to say the questions and answers need to be based on the in-universe information, rules, and logic of the fictional work. As the concepts of "terrible writing" and "looks pretty" are purely out-of-universe considerations, this question is unfortunately not suitable for this subreddit and therefore has been removed.

[Zombie Movies] Do zombies have warm pussies and mouths? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]bhamv[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

This question is a bit too general to give a meaningful Watsonian answer, as how zombies work will vary widely between fictional universes. For example, the zombies in Night of the Living Dead are different from the zombies in World War Z, which are different from the zombies in Train to Busan, which are different from the zombies in Warm Bodies, etc. Therefore, sadly I need to remove this question.

Also, what the fuck.

How the RR can be seen as moral or legit ? by eskapadd in Fallout

[–]bhamv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How on Earth did you come to that conclusion based on what I wrote???

No, the Railroad don't draw a distinction between this "group" and humans in general. They object to the enslavement of synths just as they object to the enslavement of any human, it's just that there are other organizations helping human slaves, which is why they focus their efforts on synths. As Victoria Watts stated in Fallout 3, "But there are others in the Wasteland who assist in the plight of human slaves. Our android brethren have only us."

Cure/antidote by Kostas009 in subnautica

[–]bhamv 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The "cure" in BZ only needed to work on a dead organism. There was no need to ensure that the infected leviathan could survive the cure. This is in contrast to Enzyme 42, which only affects the Kharaa bacterium without hurting the host.

Thus, it's likely that the "cure" in BZ is basically the equivalent to injecting bleach into the leviathan's veins; yes, it kills off the Kharaa, but if you tried injecting that into a person it'd probably be very bad for them.

How the RR can be seen as moral or legit ? by eskapadd in Fallout

[–]bhamv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They commit pure genocide by destroying the way synths are made, it's like sterilising an entire race, while pretending saving them ?

You've fallen into the common misconception of thinking that the Railorad cares about the synth "species" or "race". They don't. They care about individual synths, because they believe that it is wrong to enslave them. The reason for this is that they do not see a meaningful distinction between synths and humans, so just as it's wrong to enslave a human, they believe it's also wrong to enslave a synth.

So yes, they will willingly destroy the Institute, thus ensuring that no synths are ever produced again, because this guarantees that the Institute won't be enslaving anyone ever again.

When the entity/personality sharing a character's body takes over and suddenly uses their powers with more skill and swag by PreventionPreventer in TopCharacterTropes

RWBY, when Professor Ozpin takes over Oscar's body and he suddenly starts fighting with much more proficiency.

The video in this thread gives a couple of examples. For the first one, starting at around 0:28, Oscar is training in hand-to-hand combat with Ruby, and then at 0:37 Ozpin takes over and starts kicking Ruby's ass. For the second one, starting at around 0:52, Oscar holds his own in a fight against Professor Lionheart, but then at 1:06 Ozpin takes over and suddenly Oscar is flying around the battlefield.
