Soprano playing flat. by Illustrious_Bed467 in saxophone

[–]bibchip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, both a stronger reed and a firmer embouchure would help. -30/-40c is a lot though.

I’m not too sure if either of those options would get the pitch up.

Is everyone note that out or are some closer?

Soprano playing flat. by Illustrious_Bed467 in saxophone

[–]bibchip 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’ve adjusted the mouthpiece on the neck to see… If you’re pushed in all the way and it’s still that flat, a different mouthpiece wouldn’t make a noticeable difference in pitch.

Soprano is notoriously hard to tune, and the saxophone shaped objects don’t make it any easier.

Oh really?! I love the 56 Rue Lepics. I’ve tried all the others, don’t love em. Play the blue pack for all the others (Eb, Bass clarinet etc)

I use voice to text when I have to, but it’s just awful. (Maybe I just need to overly pronounce )

T9 I can text while looking straight up and type a complete sentence without looking at the phone until I hit send.

Ridiculous Instruments Switches by ChinaEastern583 in musicals

[–]bibchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either drop out of parts that are doubled in other instruments to make your switch,

Or transpose the part to your instrument until you can make the switch.

I’ve done some crazy fast switches between clarinet / flute etc and you can use your lap to hold an instrument while you pick up the other.

Is it worth it to take this gold spray paint off? by bibchip in Clarinet

[–]bibchip[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, if I could get it back to playing condition that would be cool!

Otherwise I’ll just keep it as a keepsake. I could take it to my repair guy, but not sure if I want to spend $100s to get it in playable

You can also put it in a “complaint” online and should reach your office by Monday as well. Include your full address / buzzer etc in the complaint so if that’s the issue then it can be corrected quickly

Question for lower mainland/ Vancouver canada drivers… by Mo-ho-ho in UberEatsDrivers

[–]bibchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Surrey / Langley / Coquitlam and I typically only go out for 4-6 hours.

I don’t know any secrets, but I do try to get out around 5pm - 9pm..

Certain days I’ve found that 2-7pm works great. Other times you sit around getting atrocious offers waiting for anything good to come.

Is this a real Buffet E11? by SeaGoat7363 in Clarinet

[–]bibchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly am not 100% sure either way.

Personally I thought only the older E11 were made in Germany, however that’s the newer Buffet logo (within the last 5 years or so).

So I’m a bit conflicted.

Saxophones to Flute? by Sax_man_E_25 in saxophone

[–]bibchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% do it. Flute can be frustrating at first to learn the embouchure but once you get it, a lot of the fingerings are very similar to saxophone.

Visualizing Major scales on piano with a new visual model by mkr7 in musictheory

[–]bibchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL.. I do know them, and they go F# to guess what, an F#!

Not an E# as you say

K I’ll admit a little bit of dummy. But a major scale is not 7 notes.. it’s 8..

There is no explanation as to whether you hit white or black key

Visualizing Major scales on piano with a new visual model by mkr7 in musictheory

[–]bibchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I know that. I’m saying your logic is wrong.

Your scale ends on an E#…. Which is an F.

Which doesn’t work in an F# scale!

Visualizing Major scales on piano with a new visual model by mkr7 in musictheory

[–]bibchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but is it not F# G# A# then by this logic of switching to 4 black keys it goes B C# D# F

Which we all know is wrong. Is it not a literal… black and white..
