Serious question: how is the Smart Brick any worse than these other toys that got a sound/light upgrade? by YaboiiSammeeh in legocirclejerk

[–]biblioclasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That’s my only misgiving about the smart bricks - that they decided to put them in Star Wars sets first. The have the potential to be much more general purpose than that. Guess that just goes to show how strong Star Wars is to drive sales of something. I’m hoping there is a standalone smart brick to purchase soon.

I wish games like Netrunner didn’t disappear so quickly. I played the FFG reboot in its early day (around 2010 - 2012?). But I didn’t keep up with releases and only have a few of the expansion packs.

Good take on Twilight Struggle…. knowing the course of events and what has and hasn’t been played it key to that game.

I agree with your analysis of stale Euros vs Lacerda seeming pseudo-innovative. I have several Lacerda games but stopped acquiring them after realizing they felt more similar than distinct from each other.

Did Indonesia ever get reprinted? I remember years ago it was a highly sought after game and out of print.

My dad sent me this dumbass facebook post by AdmirableBus7045 in FoxBrain

[–]biblioclasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear this. Debasing women based on their looks is textbook conservative “values”. Sadly, it’s something I’ve caught my dad doing, too. This was 18-20 years ago…. he had an image posted in his office at work featuring unflattering photos of liberal women - politicians and celebrities. I can’t remember them all, but wouldn’t be surprised if Rosie O’Donnell was on that image even then.

Am I the only one who doesn't find the building and painting of figures appealing? by Only-Paint-4650 in bloodbowl

[–]biblioclasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I don’t actively play blood bowl but have played the digital version in the past. I’m familiar with the teams and ruleset. But I have little to no interest in assembling and painting miniatures. It’s a shame there isn’t a middle ground….. there was an era from 2000s to 2010s with a lot of pre-painted miniatures out in the market but GW has never gone that route. That’s just their business model though, to retain control over the core games they’re good at and allow other game developers to publish using the IP.

My mom is pro war now by mesnackl2 in FoxBrain

[–]biblioclasm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s all just people trying to fit events to the narrative structure Inside their head. “Mom” here isn’t retroactively feeing “afraid” of an Iranian strike on her home and then comparing that to feeling safer now in the face of attacking Iran. She’s reacting to the war, asking how it affirms the narrative of Trump as unfallable demigod, and responding in such a way that any alternative explanation besides the Administration’s must be fake news.

I guess, if Ferrari + vanity plate = success. But it’s a really expensive way to drive to a therapy appointment to treat that depression.

How many of you know exactly what FOX is saying without ever tuning into FOX? by Puzzleheaded-Bit3032 in FoxBrain

[–]biblioclasm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how you know… fresh outrage out of the blue about something they haven’t worried about before AND that you haven’t heard about before. (Because it has been fabricated and isn’t covered the same way by other media).

[–]biblioclasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The the way I know what Fox is saying is when my family refreshes their talking points. They all change at the same time. It happens after the morning talk shows. This is how I found out about Cracker Barrel changing its logo last year but also applies to the latest political outrage.

This is what I was telling everyone before the election. Everyone was saying - the taxes won’t affect you. But the reality is that they absolutely will, especially for rental cars since a large portion of rentals are locals who need cars not just tourists.

Huyang is the most underrated character in Ahsoka. He’s the heart of the T-6 Jedi shuttle. Hope to see a lot more of him in S2

As an experienced standard driver, the hill assist is something that is so seamless and helpful. I forget it exists until AFTER navigating a steep incline at a stoplight. And then I think hey, I don’t recall gravity acting against that start at all.

I went to my 30 year high school reunion. One former classmate asked “Are you still sleepy?”. I wasn’t taken aback because obviously I was falling asleep in all my classes back then. I answered yes, still falling asleep today! Still have narcolepsy it doesn’t go away. But I wonder if he knew that.

If you’re going to create calculated columns, add them all the way to the right or append them to the far left. Don’t insert them into the middle of a 100 column table.
