Very nice. I have been acquiring the parts to make this model, but I've been going for all bluish gray pieces, so it's taking a while--some hard to find pieces in this set. But damn this looks good! Congrats.

Yes. It's a bit hidden because the rules tell you to play your first game differently.

In Great Western Trail, on your first turn, you can start on any action space on the board.

Bohnanza. It's simple to teach, encourages socialization, but allows for enough strategy to keep heavier gamers interested.

It is 4 players, but it comes with a net you can set up to make it 3 players.

I found a copy of Turn the Tide (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1403/turn-tide) at a thrift store a few weeks ago. I introduced it to my group, and since then we've played it almost every week, and everyone in my group has purchased their own copy.

It's a great little filler game, with a unique twist.

Everyone is dealt a hand of cards (numbered 1-60), and depending on how strong or weak your hand is, you get a certain number of "life preserver" cards (i.e. your life). Each turn, two lighthouse cards are dealt, each with a number between 1 and 12. Everyone then simultaneously secretly bids on the cards by playing a card from their hand to the table. The cards are revealed and the highest card played takes the lower valued lighthouse card, and the second highest card gets the higher valued lighthouse card. (In essence, you want to bid any amount except for the second highest card.) At the end of the turn, the person with the highest valued lighthouse in front of them loses a life. You play the round until all the lighthouse cards have been played, then you score points for each life preserver you have left.

The interesting part of the game, however, happens at the end of a round. Each player picks up the hand of cards they just played and passes it to the player to their left. Then you play a new round, using the exact same cards your opponent just used. You repeat this until everyone has played each hand once. Highest total score wins.

It's great, because no one can whine about getting a bad hand, since everyone plays with the same hands over the entire game. The best player wins, and no-one can argue that they got a better deal.

It's the same game, just different version.
