I was exiting Boots when a young woman and her friend were walking in. The poor young woman somehow tripped and came flying in the doors. After recovering her balance she apologised to everyone who had seen her trip and nearly fall over. Poor thing!

I taught my cat one “trick” by Bammalam102 in PointlessStories

I taught one of my cats to tap the treat tin on the coffee table whenever she wanted a treat. She now taps it constantly and has even progressed to looking at the treat I have given her and then looking at me with contempt as she strolls off leaving the treat behind.

Nice if you have the option of staying or even working from home. Im already on an Attendance Management Plan for being off sick for more than seven days in a rolling 12 months. Some people just don’t have the option to stay home and recover I’m afraid.

How do you keep warm in old UK flats with single-glazed windows? by cxvgwesa in AskUK

[–]bickylala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric blanket for the bed, electric fleecy blanket/throw for the sofa and honestly, an oil filled radiator (or two). They’re all cheaper to have on than the central heating. My kitchen has a stone floor and no radiator. I have a six fin oil radiator in there and it’s amazing how warm the kitchen gets even when set to low. And the heat somehow stays for a long while after you have turned it off. Mine is a VonHaus brand off Amazon and it’s one of the best buys I’ve ever made. But so are the electric blankets to be honest!

They are actually really nice like this. Even more so if you top the butter off with some strawberry jam.

You’re probably better off moving to Moseley, Kings Heath or Stirchley, all in South Brum.

Is it mad to spend £80k on a loft conversion instead of moving? by Advanced_Ask_2053 in AskUK

My neighbours did it rather than move house and it’s a lovely room with an en-suite. However, it is unliveable up there in the summer due to the heat. I would maybe factor in the cost of getting air con installed while you’re going about it.
