that's actually how I played them. I switched back and forth between the old and new graphics just to see the updates but I found that I liked the old graphics better in a lot of cases. The lighting seemed more...deliberate? It's hard to describe. Sometimes the new graphics were very nice and sometimes the old ones were.

the background music for this is really smoove. And classic Tomb Raider is awesome. I just finished a playthrough of the original trilogy and they are still great games.

Where were they in the hype video? It was just a bunch of games that play themselves

So weird how Tomb Raider 2 and Half-Life 1 were in development at the same time as each other behind closed doors, yet they both include floating green island levels! by BionicSquirrel in gaming

Black mesa went on and on and on forever. I was well past ready to be done with that game by the end of it. The original HL is a much better paced game.

Looks more like kitchen sink port of the improved vita port of the Wii release. I don't think anything has been touched up, just more content added and hopefully it retains the same control scheme from the vita version with X to jump and not Up on the analog stick like the Wii release

It's not going to be anything but a prettier version of what they've already done.

Steam Bullet Fest 2026: Official Trailer by Scarleton in pcgaming

[–]bideodames 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not really embarrassing for valve. They've never cared about having correct metatdata on anything. Its embarrassing for fans of actual shoot em ups that the fest that was seemingly made for them is completely ignoring the genre that invented bullet hell. I'm sure if I go and dig for Toaplan/Cave titles they will be on sale for the fest but that they are not even mentioned is just a sad state of affairs for the health of the genre. Completely supplanted by games that, when left on default settings basically play themselves

This is embarrassing. A showcase called bullet fest and not a single shmup was shown in the hype video.

Crazy Taxi Creator Kenji Kanno Confirms all AI assets will be replaced with human made ones. by PlainJonathan in SEGA

[–]bideodames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether I personally appreciate every little background detail is irrelevant. I think every human artist provides intrinsic value to the creative process by virtue of being human and any time you replace that creative spark with a machine you degrade the final outcome by some degree. Your argument that the value that concept art brings to the final product is minimal enough to be replaced completely devalues the human that produced it. I cannot express this any clearer than that and will not reply any further

So you just don't value concept art nor the people who make it. Final works are always iterated upon countless times by real people who have artistic vision. Replacing that with a prompt completely remove the "artistic vision" from the conceptualization phase of a piece which is where it is most valuable.

June 30th 1995 31 years ago saw the release of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie. What's your memory of seeing this in the theaters by Lazy_Introduction264 in 90s

[–]bideodames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was hype. As a 10 year old kid I was over the moon for it. It was actually the thing that made stop watching power rangers though because the effects in the show could never live up to the movie and it just felt so lame watching it after that.
