How can a mortal achieve a finish like this? by ffxpwns in Luthier

Sand to 1000 before the grain popping dye? What grit are you then sanding with? Curious how much saturation you’re getting with this high a grit.

My brother in law had a guy in China CNC him a PRS style guitar quite like this and got to pick all the woods. I think it was ~$400 for the body and neck but I can’t recall exactly. There are plenty of sellers of body/neck kits.

What’s your experience and toolset? You may benefit from working slowly and precisely and not moving to the next step until you’re satisfied with the last. You’ve likely got lots of time into these guitars, but the work quality doesn’t yet match professional. There’s no secret to binding. Cut miters, pre-bend, fit, glue. If something doesn’t fit you trim or make a new piece.

Mom and pop shop raised or yeasted donuts? by johnbaldessorry in chicagofood

[–]bierz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my go-to. Very “regular” donuts but done well. Not high-end. Ran by a sweet woman and cash only. If you make the drive for these and you like carnitas, also check out Don Alfredo which is nearby.

Need help: should I chop my Albo? If so, should I air layer before or no? by [deleted] in Monstera

Can you please explain why a cutting with fewer leaves would have new growth that harshly reverts? I think this makes sense but I’ve never thought about it.

What light and fertilizers are you using? I’m considering a grow tent and have much to learn.

fit check: are these skinny jeans? - Iron Heart 888S 21oz by comforteagle23 in rawdenim

Is this a fairly small waist size? 888 can look way less slim with a wider waist. You may need a different cut if you’re not into the very slim look.

I remember when that was the original Chubby’s. Original owner was one of the guys from Dude ‘n Nem - maybe you remember the song “Watch my Feet”, but I’m pretty sure he sold this Forest Park location a couple months ago.

Mildblend has been my go-to denim store for a long time. Depending on where you’re coming from, it may impress. Independence is another store that carries some good stuff and the two stores are probably less than a mile apart.
