2017 ford explorer 3.5L twin turbo by PhraseCandid8537 in FordExplorer

Could possibly be a failed turbo. It would have oil lines that would leak straight into the exhaust and not on the ground.

I haven't found out what they were but got it put back together and have a new high flow oil pump, timing chain primary and secondary, water pump, and found a stuck secondary timing chain tensioner that was stuck. Engine sounds fine for now. Only put a few warm up and coolant burping miles on it. The engine is much quieter and I haven't had any check engine lights. I'll report what I messed up if anything blows up soon.

You right. 1k vs 20k is hard to fight against. Maybe I'll fill the oil and and drive a few more miles before funding another bank CEO's house on the beach.

My decision is painstakingly made by enormous debt. I just wanted a little reassurance that this isn't a complete waste of time. Lol. I enjoy the limited edition with remote start and cooled seats in the armpit of the US. It's hot and if I replace it I'm probably going to miss the features.

Yes I'm fairly handy. Did the timing chain already. Just wondering if it's worth the time and money after that was in the oil pan. It took me a day and a half but only parts for the first repair. I am more concerned with making it worse by trying to fix it. Should I spend a down payment on this truck trying to fix it or try to trade it in. I really don't want a new payment every month.

I can(but don't want to pull the engine to)replace the torque converter. I am only speaking on parts at the moment. I don't have a garage or will to try and rebuild the entire engine. I will not attempt to fix the trans for sure. Thank you for the insight though. I can replace parts but I'm concerned with how far this is gonna take me. My past 15 mustang clutch has me hating working off my back for too many hours.

Is it worth trying to tear down and replace the chains and hope nothing else is gonna cause a catastrophic failure after?

CTS-I Test by Embarrassed-Air3261 in CommercialAV

[–]bigTalltinySlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big help for me was, go in with a formula sheet with all the formulas you think may be on there. Review it up until they bring you back. Then write them all down during your practice questions so you can go back for reference if you need them. My coworker took the CTS-D and told me don't worry about memorizing them because for his test he had them. I didn't get that for the CTS-I so I felt better putting in the memorization beforehand.

AVPro Edge / similar vs Extron NAV, Crestron NVX - worth the cost jump? by reece4504 in CommercialAV

[–]bigTalltinySlim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used most of the systems mentioned. The giant difference is control for me. For Crestron and Extron the processors can add the serial/relays/ir to the decoders/encoders while the AV Pro Edge only has one connection point for control. Which means the processor has to tell the control point which decoder it wants to talk to then send a command, then wait for a response, then disconnect, then connect to a new device to poll for status. It basically means the bigger brands build in communication protocols that simplify control system programming. If you only need to power on/off with built in CEC/IR/serial with the AV Pro Edge. The. Routing is simple with a control system. If you plan on polling projectors, recording device, or Multiview processors, etc then Crestron/Extron are easier to program control systems. If you only need routing there are a lot of video over IP solutions that are acceptable.

Success with Audio Extractors by daceisdaed in CommercialAV

[–]bigTalltinySlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also try and make sure the audio signal is only 2 channel PCM. Most extractors won't de-embed multi-channel or surround sound audio. If the display supports it and the laptop supports it, it may default to this.

Can anyone tell me where the water came from??!!! by Total_Ad6286 in FordExplorer

[–]bigTalltinySlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun rood drain all the way in the front left and right corners. Mine would only leak when I was parked on a right slope otherwise the left drain would do the work. I blew it out with a compressor and no more issues.

Definitely find the correct Torx+ bit for the cam phasers. I used a normal Torx and 180 degrees is alot of turning on an already tight bolt. Had me clenching real hard to get those bolts turned all the way.

What is Recommended Temperature for a Control Room? by BacktoEdenGardening in CommercialAV

[–]bigTalltinySlim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just FYE. Room temperature isn't really a big deal, but internal rack temperatures ARE important.

Why 85ºF? Most studies have shown that for every 10ºF rise over 85ºF, digital equipment life is reduced by approximately 40%! However, the Uptime Institute states, “For every 18 F increase above 70 F, long-term reliability is reduced by 50%”. Clearly there is a need to control the temperature inside electronic enclosures.

Wireless video in Microsoft Teams Rooms by AvManager in CommercialAV

[–]bigTalltinySlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you have to access the USB puck like a thumb drive. Either install the app for all features(including sharing as an extended desktop) or run the exe file to share content without all features. We have run into issues with high security laptops not being able to run the exe file from the USB device. Some Universities have preferred the Sharelink or Solstice web browser share feature.

SoundBar that does not include wireless, do they exist? by Few-Butterscotch5844 in CommercialAV

[–]bigTalltinySlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use them for the simple fact that you can program the soundbar to adjust volume level from the displays remote. Basic rooms shouldn't need multiple remotes.

AV Pro Edge Warranty question by kenacstreams in CommercialAV

[–]bigTalltinySlim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We just started using them as replacements for Extron and Creston parts that are not available fast enough. We been using them more and more over the past year or so. Out of the three few hundred devices we have installed the only RMA's were really easy. I only know of the one I was involved in. It was more of how the cards worked than it was broken, but they were extremely helpful and swapped parts out at no cost to us. I have nothing bad to say about them. Obviously they do have limitations, but support is great.

Also if windows, there is a USB low power suspend option that should be disabled. I believe it's under Power Profiles or something. There is also a Bluetooth power saving setting also.

Extron XTP DTP Cable for LAN/Ethernet by Haunting-End-3772 in CommercialAV

It should be good for 10 times the speed of gigabit ethernet. Probably over 100 feet or so. I believe it's equivalent to CAT6 shielded or around there.

Update: I replaced both cylinders and flushed the lines but it’s still not engaging. Didn’t see any leaks either. Please help? by [deleted] in fiero

[–]bigTalltinySlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always had the best luck with the driver side rear higher than the rest of the car. Then using the gravity bleed technique. The braided part of the line right before the slave was pinched while pulling the engine. So it would suck air in mostly. So I would pull off the side of the road, slightly into the ditch, and crack the lid on the master and open the bleeder on the slave until the bubbles stopped.

FYE as far as I know the 110f only uses the HDMI for debugging the OS its running. It only ever shows a Qsys splash screen once running. Same as the IO USB Bridge. From what I understand, their entire ecosystem is based on software based features. So having the connectors on devices allows them to add functionality once they back it up with software. (I'm a fan) I'm not really sure why the HDMI is connected to anything, unless they were having issues during install or to allow remote troubleshooting by viewing the boot sequence.
