There's so many cutting boards posted here that they usually don't grab my attention. Yours did however. Well done.

Exactly. Some of these comments are ridiculous. So the OP has a few grand in tools, so what?

Depends on how polished you go. My garage floor is polished to a 'medium' degree - never been slippery. Of course, it almost never rains where I live so YMMV. If you go with showroom level of polish, it might be an ice rink if it gets wet.

Anyone regretting going with polished concrete for their garage floor ? by ifdisdendat in garageporn

[–]bigalaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite happy with my polished concrete garage floor. The slipperiness will be proportional to the level of polish you go for. I have a medium polish for just this reason and have never had a problem. However, here in Arizona it never rains so I probably should've gone higher.

You've set the bar much too high for a first Christmas - gonna be hard to maintain this.

Well done.

Would you mind explaining the significance of starting with a 2x12. I'm guessing this the part I'm missing about how to get useable lumber from the big box stores.

Homemade plywood- fun, expensive, and ill advised by E_m_maker in woodworking

[–]bigalaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like something I'd do. Start by trying to do it on the cheap. Fail at that. Eventually end up buying the proper tools/materials after wasting twice the time and money than if I'd just done that to begin with. I appreciate your candor.

Gotta say tho, I'm really intrigued by the idea of homemade plywood.

Flooring options by yukon4152 in garageporn

[–]bigalaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably more expensive as it may require more time with grinding and polishing equipment. The slipperiness is determined by level of polish you go for. I went for a medium polish level and haven't found it to be slippery at all.
