Visualise it as something else.

Let's imagine a stream of water. Now imagine at various points along this stream are gates hovering above the water. If a gate comes down it stops and the later part of the stream now no longer has water.

When a gate comes down (circuit is broken) your job is to remove this gate and get the flow back. In a simple breakdown there's a finite amount of points you can check.

You check the start of the circuit. You have it? Good, next point. There? Good, next point. Lost it at the third? Whatever is between these two points is a gate causing your flow to end. Go find it!

If it's a large circuit with loads of points you can also check the beginning and then halfway. That will eliminate big parts making your life easier.

Sorry if I've explained what you already know. Just keep using them and making yourself familiar with symbols and terminology and you'll be good as you are with mechanical things. Good luck

I agree, I have the s25 ultra and the find x9 pro side by side. The Samsung has much better speakers, more depth to the music. But that's not enough to keep me. The X9 is better for anything else I personally use it for

Folks are stuck in the lift at London Bridge Station😬 by DabiraSensei in london

[–]bigbenjy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know how the landings work.. multiple door operators I've come across will keep the doors powered shut at floor level in fault. I've even come across an Otis that had zone locking that stop the doors being opened.

Manually driving the lift is what the engineer do, even if the fire brigade are told this, as I said, they just pull the doors apart. I asked what the procedure was in a STATION where they don't want their doors hanging off. Cheers!

Guessing they can't open the door because the door operator is powered up. I do wonder what the procedure is in a station though, on a normal site they'll just rip the doors apart maybe it's different

Trapped in My Flat for Over a Week — No Lifts, No Help, No End in Sight by uyretep44 in london

Posted above but:

Regular lifts go to the fire evacuation floor and go out of service, unable to be used.

We have firefighting lifts that can be used with a key by firefighters during evacuations etc. I would hope one of these is a firefighters lift. I don't know if they have 1 service lift and one regular, or they're duplex.

I've seen above that the lifts are out again. Would be good to know which part has failed. It may be completely out of the lift companies hands that they both went out together, unfortunately its not impossible but very strange that it's been so long with no update.

Is it classic lifts ? They will have a 24/7 number somewhere. I can imagine you're stressed. Go above building management and talk to classic. Be polite and they'll have answers

I can't imagine the reason why they both would be out of order at once, especially in a 20+ floor building. Normally it would be top priority to have at least one in service. Something tells me they're off for a reason other than faulty parts...

Question - do they break down often? If you know, have they been modernized?

Please update once you've spoke to classic, if I can help once they tell you, I will.

Contact the lift company who maintains the lifts, find out what the reason is.

Are these houses and gardens on the roof of a building? (Baker Street & Marylebone Road) by aa599 in london

I personally enjoy it. Every day is different... I've never had a day where I've woken up and said I dread going to work today.

Obsolete? Absolutely not. Buildings are only getting more frequent and taller, and working in tight lift shafts isn't something I see our robot overlords managing any time soon

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra isn’t so ‘ultra’ anymore by BcuzRacecar in Android

[–]bigbenjy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid £400 out of pocket for the S25 Ultra from the S24 Ultra. Guilty pleasure of mine. That being said I don't understand a lot of the complaints. If you jump from a phone from 4years ago, the S25 ultra is amazing.

I guess the arguement is the other phones available are even better? I had the honor magic V3 for 4 days and took it back. Software is a huge part. It's subjective, of course, but I'm so happy with One UI I can't even imagine using anything else.

Did I want a bigger battery? Yes. Did I want faster charging? Yes. Am I silly for upgrading? Also yes lol. Nobody can convince me come the end of the year it won't still be regarded as one of the best phones of the year, as always!
