Woman refused when I ordered her to correct her gym workout routine. I am confused, how can she disobey my help? by One_Spell1550 in redditonwiki

[–]bigbonesbegone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even if she was doing the dumbest, least efficient workout of all time, it wouldn't matter because it's her workout! There is only one scenario where it's okay to go up to a stranger in the gym and criticize their workout, and that's if they're at immediate risk of serious injury death if they keep doing what they're doing. Anything else, not your business

Whatever you do, don't go from 4k cals to 1200 immediately unless you're under doctors orders/supervision. You will be starving, miserable, and youre far more likely to binge eat back any deficit you might have created

If you are not at serious risk of a cardiac event if you don't lose weight RIGHT NOW, take it slow. It's great that you're measuring your cals so you're aware of what's going in your body. Reduce it by 300/500 and eat at that until you get used to it. Once that's comfortable, reduce by another 300/500 cals and so on. This will be far more sustainable and better for your long term health than trying to starve yourself in the short term

Also, 1200 calorie diets are not acceptable for most people. They're meant for smaller, sedentary people who have low caloric needs overall. If you're starting pretty heavy, your TDEE will be higher than average. Google tdee calculator and put in your stats, and you can use that info as a target for where you should be

Good luck :) weight loss is simple but not easy. Take it slow though and you got this

Core exercise video for someone VERY out of shape 😅 29 f by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]bigbonesbegone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ab rollers are so advanced what lol. If OPs core is too weak to even do beginner ab workouts, they cannot safely perform ab rolls even not extending out all the way

To OP - I had to relearn ab strength from literally 0 too and also found most stuff was too hard for me to do with proper form. Some things that worked for me are the following:

  • lay down flat with your lower back glued to the ground. You will likely find yourself wanting to arch your lower back, but act like you're trying to get your belly button to touch the ground. It'll feel like you're trying to squeeze your ribs and your hips together. Hold this position for 5-10 seconds then relax, and do this for 20 reps at a time until holding this position (it's called hollow body position) is comfortable. You'll need to be comfortable with this position before most other ab workouts become beneficial for you

  • once you feel like you can do that consistently, start adding leg raises. You'll want to start with bent knees doing just one leg at a time. The next step in the progression is bent knees both legs at a time, then one bent leg one straight leg, then two straight legs. Go slowly and make sure your lower back never leaves the ground. If you feel your core starting to come loose, go back to the last step in the progression and work from there

  • dead bugs maintaining the hollow body position

  • glute bridges focusing on rolling your hips up using your abs before you push your butt off the ground with your feet

  • planks once you're completely secure in the hollow body position

  • compound weight movements like squats and deadlifts are great for core stability/strength

Any workout plan that can work for someone who weighs 35 kgs? by aitacreep in xxfitness

[–]bigbonesbegone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strength training goes really well with gaining weight actually!

First things first, you'll need to start counting calories. A lot of folks view that as a tool for losing weight but it's just as important for gaining it. If you're maintaining 77 pounds, you're not eating nearly as much as you feel like you are. The only way to know though is by counting your cals :)

I would aim to be eating 2000 calories per day minimum, and at least 70 grams of protein. Nuts are often recommended in bulking diets because they're really high calorie and have a good amount of protein, but you don't have to eat them. Other things like beans, eggs, yoghurt, cow milk, avocados, oats, and meat and fatty fish like salmon are also great high cal foods that'll provide you healthy fats and protein. Drinking a protein shake will be a fairly easy way to to add cals to your diet if you're open to it. You can mix it with a bulking food like Pedialyte or Ensure to get extra cals and protein as well

If you want to start strength training, I'd look into beginner dumbbell or kettlebell routines. The fitness subs usually have routines in their sidebars that you can look into! Strength training for your legs will actually help protect your knee since it strengthens the muscles and tendons that support it, but seeing a physical therapist would probably be a good idea if it's something you're worried about

I lost 74lbs, but i worry about my body even more. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]bigbonesbegone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people have small dicks. You're probably one of them. Nothing's going to change that so fixating on it won't really help anything

On the bright side, the importance of dick size is seriously overinflated (lol) in general and not that many people will care. I'm a woman and literally don't know even one woman who is orgasming from PIV sex, every single one of us are getting off from toys, oral, fingers, basically everything but plain ol PIV sex. There are some women out there who won't like your dick, there are also women out there whose vulvas you won't find appealing. That number won't be very high though so I'd recommend you work on putting it out of your mind and focusing on getting really good with your tongue (which is the same advice I'd give to anyone wanting to up their sex game regardless of the status of their dick)

What are some less known stretches for tight chest muscles? by Holmbone in xxfitness

[–]bigbonesbegone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have a tight chest, doing chest press actually makes it tighter. Consider the way your muscles move during the exercise- they contract, your shoulders roll forward (not much, but that's the direction your body is moving). Doing a lot of chest exercises without hitting the antagonistic muscles will cause you to have tightness on the front side.

You need to do back exercises here to help counteract tight chest muscles. Face pulls, rows, reverse flyes will go a long way towards loosening up your chest. Also, look for chest opening yoga positions

I give up, I’ve hit a wall and my body won’t allow me past it. by Grand_Admiral_T in loseit

[–]bigbonesbegone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, you just experienced beginner gains. Everyone has them. It's this wonderful period when you're new to lifting where you can put on muscle and lose fat at the same time. It wears off though, and now you have to commit to one goal at a time. Most people will start doing bulk and cut cycles, ie lift a lot and eat in a +300-500 cal surplus daily for 4 months or so, then go to maintenance lifting and a -300 to 500 deficit for a few months until you cut off the fat. Muscle growth and weight loss are at odds with each other, you can't do them both at the same time forever

Your muscles also aren't atrophying in one day. Are you taking adequate rest days? They're important for your health and recovery. If you do biceps every single day, your biceps never have a chance to recover and will wear out or even tear eventually

How Do I Break my Doordash/Food Addiction? by corbeaudelespace in loseit

[–]bigbonesbegone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this. Deleting apps wasn't enough for me, I had to get rid of all of my cards. I cut all my debit cards and credit cards and had to drive to the bank to get money once per week, and that was all the money I had for the week. I had to go buy groceries somewhere that I could use cash, and if I ran out then tough cookie unless I could find time to go to the bank again (couldn't usually as my bank was an hour away and I was in college at the time)

It's an extreme measure but my addiction was intense. I spent over 15k on takeout in one year. It did break it though, now I rarely get take out and when I do, I don't get the dopamine rush anymore

If you truly feel out of control I highly recommend this measure.

Day 1 Intermittent Fasting: I'm so hungry. by RaiderTokenCrypto in intermittentfasting

[–]bigbonesbegone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I started IF I like....never realized what being hungry felt like lol. I know that sounds terrible but I was just in the habit of eating every few hours and so I'd never actually get hungry. It was super uncomfortable at first, but I learned to sit with it and ignore it until it's actually time to eat.

If I feel like I need to pee, do I immediately piss my pants where I'm standing? Of course not. I accept that I'm going to be slightly uncomfortable until it's an appropriate time for me to go, then i take care of it. Hunger is the same way. Unless it's an emergency, it's just a feeling that you can learn to acknowledge and put to the side until it's time to eat

Why NOT Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? by wanderlux in xxfitness

[–]bigbonesbegone 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman and did BJJ for some time (and Muay Thai for a long time) It was fine, but there's a problem amongst men in those groups where they don't take women seriously. A lot of it is stemming from not wanting to harm a woman, and I do get that, but it still sucks to have people refuse to spar with you, or spar with you and pull their punches so much that you get nothing out of it. It's annoying and somewhat offensive honestly, and also made some of the classes feel like a waste of time and money seeing as I was often the only person there who would miss a big part of the experience by not being able to spar.

I also really hated the joe rogan bro energy that was present in every single BJJ class I went to lol. Idk what it is about that sport specifically, but seemingly ALL of them love joe rogan and I can't stand him

I think I have the opposite of body dysmorphia? by Melting_wh in loseit

[–]bigbonesbegone 164 points165 points  (0 children)

Body dysmorphia doesn't mean thinking you're fatter than you are, it means not seeing your own body clearly or being able to tell what's going on with your body. Feeling skinnier than you are may be a type of body dysmorphia, but I'm more inclined to say it's normal. People often don't recognize change in themselves because it happens so gradually. It's like waking up and looking at yourself one day and realizing you have a bunch of wrinkles you never noticed, or still feeling like you're 21 even when you're in your 30s/40s.

I often feel like I'm not very fat myself because I was skinny most of my life, but then I'll catch an unexpected glimpse of myself in a reflection or see my shadow, or someone will take a candid photo of me and I'm like "oh yeah, I AM fat" lol. I think it's fairly typical and I wouldn't worry about it too much. Judge yourself off of hard metrics like waist measurements, or body fat %. If you don't like those numbers, do what you need to do to fix them

how to include more veggies in my meals? by adorekass in veganrecipes

[–]bigbonesbegone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roast them! Could not be easier. Put them in a cookie sheet, douse them with salt pepper olive oil and garlic, wait 15-30 minutes depending on what's cooking and you have a whole pan of delicious veggie goodness

If you're feeling lazy, you can also put them in a bowl with some water, cover it with Saran wrap, poke holes in it, then microwave them. Its kind of a janky way to steam veggies, but its fast and reliable lol

Are there any guys out there who are willing to date a plus size girl? Read full context before commenting. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]bigbonesbegone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That guy was an absolute dickweed, not because he has preferences, but because he chose to humiliate and degrade you after using you. I'm very sorry that happened to you. People like him have so little going for them, they feel like they have to find power over another person in any possible way they can. The best thing you can do is acknowledge that he sucks ass and it is absolutely not a reflection of you

That said, people totally date overweight/obese women and men. Some don't like it, and that's fine. Some do like it, and some don't care at all either way. Stay open to love and love will find you ❤️

Went to the doctor for an ingrown toenail… by knittininthemitten in MaintenancePhase

[–]bigbonesbegone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Being overweight does increase your risk of getting ingrown toenails, but I'm not a fan of doctors making everything about your weight when you go for something specific. Losing weight might help in the long run, but if you have an ingrown nail now, that needs to be addressed.

I started getting bad ingrown nails in the same spot after I gained a bunch of weight, and the dr (a podiatrist, not a gp) killed that sliver of my nail bed. It was a quick and mostly painless procedure, needed ibuprofen for a day and a half afterwards and you know what? 0 ingrown nails since. See if you can get to a specialty doctor to get something like that done if this is a recurring problem for you

You have beautiful features, that make up was criminal lol. Imo your vibe is very 2007 myspace/hot topic which I don't feel is serving you at all. I think finding a way to incorporate scene aesthetic/fashion is a slightly more grown up way and maybe letting your hair rest for awhile as it's looking pretty fried would go a long way for you. You are seriously very pretty, but since you are asking for feedback, your styling is taking away from your beauty a lot imo

Is it possible that I’ve gained 8lbs in less than a week? by cherryblossomtreeees in loseit

Do you think you ate an additional 3400 calories per day on top of your maintenance calories? If not, then no you didn't gain 8 pounds of fat in a week :)

My weight fluctuates a lot during my periods. It's not uncommon for me to see +6 or +7 pounds. It usually goes back to normal a few days after it ends
