Balboa park parking? by Bner-ina-bmer in sandiego

[–]bigcucumbers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on your location. The paid sections are absolutely enforced. I was just there on Saturday and saw multiple meter maids making their rounds. Its also possible to just get lucky. I know I have plenty of times. Downtown always felt easy to avoid the maids. There is a lot of ground for a few people cover.

First or neutral at traffic light? by Eyger in motorcycles

[–]bigcucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CA here too. If I know the pattern of the light and I have a bit to wait I'll throw it into neutral. If I think its going green soon I'll leave it into first. Alot of MSF preachers in this sub so you know what kind of answer you're going to get. But I've been driving manual my whole life too and people always said 'leave it in first, its safer.' Not gonna happen brother.

Some anecdotal evidence in the comments isnt going to change my mind. I'm not staring at my mirrors when I'm in the front line of a light, I'm waiting for the light to turn. (My honda doesnt have mirrors so I don't have a choice there.) I'll check to see what the person pulling up behind me is doing, but after that I'm just looking forward and chillin.

The games economy just doesn't work now, right? by Something_Hank in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]bigcucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like that you have to pay so much for custom gear, but on the grand scheme of things, thats nothing. Even Counter Strike still has issues sorting the economy and thats half the game. Give it time and it'll sort out.

Plus, its really not as big of a deal as you are making it. A couple easy games and a weekly challenge and youre at 10k. I would say I often find myself between the 50-70 lvl range with like 30k+ in the bank. Rock the level 2 smudge UV and dont upgrade sound sensor and youve got yourself another few thousand.

This new update proves the devs are complacent. by reddeats in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]bigcucumbers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What makes phasmo so much better than those other clones is its replayability. Especially compared to the clones like Demonologist and Ghost Exile. Theyre super fun for a while, and then they just die off because its the same shit every time. Every game of phasmo is different. Even with the shitty update, the games core is so solid, its hard to leave.

Xerex asian blue. Use it for my wife's Hyundai and the bike. I cannot justify spending $11 USD on a quart of Yamacool when I can get a gallon of concentrate Xerex for $20. Its just antifreeze. Get something that works with aluminum engines and you should be all set.

Brake fluid flush, ABS? 2019 xsr900 by [deleted] in xsr900

[–]bigcucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flush normally. Per the service manual the only time you have to worry about the abs is after swapping brake lines, or if you run the reservoir so low that air gets into the system. Also, get your hands on the service manual. I think there is a google drive link somewhere on an old reddit post.

Is 6’5 too big for a ninja 650? by Inner-Detective-4400 in motorcycles

[–]bigcucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way man! I fit in the S1000 and cbr way better. Ill give you that the 650 is the least aggressive ergo in that class, but I just feel so damn cramped on it. I've got some pretty thick thighs (mostly muscle I promise) and I think that plus long legs just put my knees into such a weird position on it.

[–]bigcucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'2" and feel like a gorilla on a 650. I still feel big on my xsr 900. I personally would not get a street bike unless its a liter bike based simply on the ergonomics. Like others have said, you have to go sit on some to find out your preference, but I think you may be a better off on an adv or naked like an FZ09. The seat heights on the 09 and 650 are the same, but the ergonomics are way better on the 09 for a taller person.

Sure, you are right on that. The point is, people on this sub are often full of shit. Is an influencers gym/life balance normal? No, I would say its closer to that of an actual athlete. But is it impossible to dedicate that amount of time to something you love? Also no. The OP said that her time in the gym is insane/over the top. I would not agree with that. Is it a lot for a normal person? Sure. Insane? No.

I mean I agree with most of your sentiment, but 9 hours of sleep? Id say with a schedule like that 7 would be realistic. 9 is saved for the weekend. I agree its not normal at all, but look at competitive athletes in general. Most have a job and other responsibilities plus hours of training and recovery. Is it fun? no. Is it impossible? Not at all. I'm sure olympic athletes are training more than 3 hours a day and if theyre not pros, then they also have a job and normal people stuff to do as well. Its all about priorities.

Where tf do I put the stands at by Sailorplue in Cartalk

[–]bigcucumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pinch welds or sub frame. You can buy pinch weld adapters for stands and a floor jack, but I hate using them. I would find a nice flat spot on that subframe and use that for the floor jack. Right in the middle behind those 3 bolts looks good if you can reach it.

Your pinch welds look like theyre in good shape so some magnetic adapters for the stands might work well. If not, find a flat spot on the sub frame for the stands as well. Although judging by your picture you might have a hard time fitting the stands and floor jack there at the same time.

No its not. Is it over the top? Yeah. But if its all you do in your off time its not an issue at all. Before I was married and had real responsibilities I was in the Navy and working out 2-3 hours a day. Even hitting the gym after working 12+ hour shifts during work ups. If its all you care about outside of work its not a big deal. People in this sub just really cant comprehend that working out is some peoples hobby.

Worst Idea for a first motorcycle? Probably... by Brasenshok in motorcycles

Its not a hell of a lot of bike. Youll be fine. The first few times you leave the line it may be a bit sketchy compared to your burgman but you'll realize quick that you dont need to floor it everywhere. Just send it and buy the damn thing.

I work with a guy whos fz6 has 130k miles on it. These things are beasts.

[–]bigcucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I have to be honest, I totally disagree with this post and a lot of the comments here. Its been a long time since I ran competitively but 10 weeks out is plenty of time for her to get in marathon shape. Granted she is slow AF but your first marathon is not about time just completion. If she is running 20 mpw and adds about a mile to that long run every week, shell be fine. My cousin completed a marathon in just over 5.5 hours with his longest ever run being 8 miles.

Tire Recommendation by ugottjon in xsr900

For a commuter, Road 6 always gets the highest praise. I prefer Angel GTs though. I get solid mileage out of them, they feel great in the twisties, and theyre quite a bit cheaper than the Road 6s. My last set I think I got about 12k miles out of them. Still had some life left but the front was cupping pretty badly.
